my broadband at home is 2mgb down, 256 up. When i'm at work i want to stream a file (gbpvr recoding)from my home PC. I will use webstreamer if i can, but even just using VLC to stream, i cant get a good enough stream going, keeps crapping out.
i use putty to create tunnels to my work pc.
So far i can only get VLC to work reliably by having the transcoding options set with video 64K, size set at 0.25 and 1 audio channel at 16k. that of course is unwatchable, however, thats only about 100kb/s but that seems to be the limit before it craps out.
Is it even possible what i'm trying or do or do i have to put in some QOS stuff on my broadband router? etc.
