I suspect you are right. My gut feeling is that GB-PVR 97.9 is handling things differently...
I guess the original queston (marcomessina) stated no dhcp server, and using static IPs. IMHO, Static IPs are asking for trouble. Use A DHCP server, whether win2k3 serv, linux, hardware router, whatever...
The MVP does ask for an IP, so something should answer its request...
But this is only a symptom for a problem. Let's sort through it and pass on the suggestion and evidence to 'sub' rather than place band-aids on the gash...
I do a lot of networking, and so I'm reading this thread with interest, though I have no trouble with my current system:
GB-PVR 97.9, on a XP SP2
dongle 3.0.24088
Dlink router
MVP rev H2
The MVP finds the server IP no problem but must reboot three beofre finally seeing GB-PVR interface
It might take a little longer to catch, but afterwards, the interface is much peppier (is that a word?)
