In GBPVR, when selecting DVD (and DVD is in drive), all I get is a black screen.
Pressing ESC returns to menu.

All settings in the CONFIG/Dvd are on the default.

Now, I tried playing the DVD with other software - Windows Media Player will not play it. It will just fail on the tracks one by one.
However, trying a different player - MPlayerC in this case, it played the same DVD (in the same box...) with no problems.

Attached are the logs and config.xml.

Thanks

The default video decoders on your machine are probably not able to play DVD content. What video and audio decoder options are listed for you in the DVD tab of the config app?

Navigator: DVD Navigator (no other option available)
Video Decoder: System Default (no other option available)
Audio Decoder: System Default (also available: AC3Filter, MPEG Audio Decoder, Intervideo NonCSS Audio Decoder for H...)
Audio Renderer: System Default (also available: SoundMAX Digital Audio, Default DirectSound Device, Default WaveOut device, DirectSound: SoundMax Digital Audio).
See image attached (and I attached the config.xml in the first post).

You dont have a compatible DVD decoder installed then. Install an app like InterVideo WinDVD or Cyberlink PowerDVD. These will give you decoders that can be used with GB-PVR for DVD playback.

Ok, will do right now.
However, just for my curiosity - how does a different (and very small - one EXE no-install) can play the DVD ok?

Some apps use their own custom decoders that cant be used by external apps like GB-PVR.

GB-PVR doesnt include any decoders. It relies on you having installed them separately.

Still no go... Installed Cyberlink PowerDVD 6. It playes the DVD, but still GBPVR doesn't. (what about the fact WMP doesn't? I mean, for a simple DVD playing with a DVD drive and XP, I thoought it should always work out of the XP box, no?).

Set the navigator to the default 'DVD Navigator'. Set the audio renderer to 'system default'. Set the renderer on the playback tab to 'Overlay' (or add the Cyberlink registry settings which enable VMR support.

If it still does work, post you gbpvr.exe-native.log and i'll take a look.

Tada! Works (the registry values were already correct).
Thanks so much. Once again, unbeatable support!.
