Looks like I am keeping you guys busy today... here my next question:

Is there a relation between WinTV2K and GBPVR channels?

Here's my story:

1. I let Hauppauge's "Channel Configuration" Tool scan my cable with the settings:
   - Tuning Mode: "Channels by Country"
   - Broadcast/Cable: "Cable"
   - Tuner Format is disabled
   - Video Format is PAL BGHIDK

2. "Ok", I thought,  "I'll enter WinTV's channel numbers in GBPVR's "Source Channel" column. For Example "41" --> Result is just noise in the "Active Movie" window.

3. "Well, so it must be the preset number..." and I enter "52", the preset number for "41" --> Result: I see a wonderful live TV output, unfortunately a different channel than expected. One that is at preset "12" on channel "19".

You see me confused [Image: rock.gif]. I read the threads with the problem from the dutch chaps, but considered mine to be of a different reason.

Any comments?

Hauppauge use some private method for tuning channels which I dont have access to. I have to use Microsofts TV tuning API, which uses predefined channel tunings based on the country you are in. Where are you?

There has been a few posts about it in the past. I think the posts from the dutch guys do contain all the info. There is a utility called freqcopy that can be used to copy the Hauppauge tuning into the Microsoft channel tuning tables.

Hi,

maybe I can just comment on this one even though I only use GBPVR for one week and am a complete PVR newbie but I had exactly the same problem and tried to figure out a solution. The channels just didn't match and I had no clue which channel numbers to use so in the end the only thing I could come up with is trying them all and taking notes.

For that I used myhtpc (http://www.myhtpc.net) with the GotTV-Plugin since I can see the output on the monitor instead the TV screen and I can use the same EPG for both programs (GotTV and GBPVR). I'm in Germany and imported 8 EPG channels and edited the channellist of GotTV with 1-8 checking each channel. Then doing the same thing over from 9-16 and so on (I gave up when I reached 64 since I had found all channels already). Probably one of the most ridiculous ways to find out and it took me at least one hour but in the end I had a map of available channels and numbers and since then everything just works.

But I hope someone else can offer a more convenient solution. Just thought maybe it helps since you are surely desparate to try this whole PVR thing. I know I was [Image: smile.gif]

I had a simular problem and started this thread.

What I did is tuning all channels in WinTV2K in the order I wanted them, then I ran freqcopy. Freqcopy overrides the tuning in the windows registry as I understand it.

You can edit you EPG files to have the channels in the order you want them (corresponding with the tuning in WinTV2K) before you update EPG.

Hope this helped. The links sub mentioned in reply to the thread I started pointed me to the solution:

FreqCopy can be found here: http://www.prize.nl/software/freqcopy/

I worked it out originally by running sage's sage recorder ( not sageTV )
It has an autoscan function that returns the correct channels for frequencies.
I have these in a text file - looks a bit more manual than freqcopy, but overwriting registry values kinda freaks me out a little ;-)
