I have a few .ts hd files that gbpver won't play but they play fine in media player. When I selct the file in gbpvr and hit play I get a black screen with 2 little different colour bars that are like 2"L by 1"H in the right hand corners. When I press the back button on the remote I am back to the videos menu.

There is no built in support for playing .ts files in GB-PVR. These are quite different from other types of media file.

You might get lucky if you got the appropriate directshow filters on your machine, but I dont know what they would be.

By default WMP also cant play .ts files. What did you install to enable this? That may give us the clue if it is something compatible with GB-PVR or not.

I know Cyberlink's PowerDVD can play *.ts files.... as I have done it. Perhaps that installs a codec to make it possible?

There are quite a few things that can be installed for playing transport stream files, but only some of these will work with GB-PVR, which is why I asked what he installed.

This is a dedicated media machine and pretty much the only thing I installed is purevideo. Which kicks in when I open it in media player but not if I open it in gbpvr.

One more thing. If I rename the file to a .mpg file media player still plays it fine including the 5.1 audio but gbpvr just plays the audio with no video.

Descaler allows TS files to be played in WMP. Both audio and Video is process by descaler. When choosen in GBPVR, the graph is built using the mpeg2 audio decoder.

Code:
12:48:26.216    INFO    DirectShowPlayerBase::playVideoFile(Z:\CSI NY\CSI NY_20060628_21002200.ts)
12:48:26.232    VERBOSE    Creating new graph

12:48:26.263    VERBOSE    getSetting(VMRWindowedMode)

12:48:26.294    VERBOSE    getSetting(PreferredDecoder)
12:48:26.326    VERBOSE    video decoder filter: DScaler Mpeg2 Video Decoder
12:48:26.341    VERBOSE    Using GB-PVR Parser
12:48:26.372    VERBOSE    FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: GB-PVR Parser
12:48:26.372    VERBOSE    Rendering graph
12:48:26.419    VERBOSE    getSetting(ListGraphFilters)
12:48:26.419    VERBOSE    Graph contains the following filters:
12:48:26.419    VERBOSE     - SOURCE
12:48:26.419    VERBOSE     - DScaler Mpeg2 Video Decoder
12:48:26.419    VERBOSE     - MPEG Audio Decoder
12:48:26.419    VERBOSE     - Video Renderer
12:48:26.419    VERBOSE    getSetting(SaveGraphFiles)
12:48:26.560    INFO    DirectShowPlayerBase::playFile() done
12:48:26.560    VERBOSE    DirectShowPlayerBase::setPlaybackRate(1.000000)
12:48:26.560    VERBOSE    Restoring audio

Nothing happens in the GBPVR GUI when selecting a TS file. Hope this helps.
