Hardware Vs. Software decoder

I have a Hauppauge 500mce that I'm trying to make work with gbpvr the the 500mce ships with out a decoder. What should I do? What the functional difference between them? Which is better...cheaper? I have researched and cn't find any real info on the subject. Also does anybody know about conflict with the mce and difficulty working with an integrated video card? Having lots of problems any advice would be great! thanks!!

I think you are missing some info from the description of your problem. Are you asking something different in this post than from your previous post?
