Sub,
I think the problem was that I was running out of disk space. GBPVR gave no warnings. It just stopped working. I am in the middle of a 10 minute test. Before it only ran for about 1 min.

That must have been the problem. This test was running fine when I stopped it after about 10 mins.

When the WinTVCap livetv-x.mpg file stops growing and LiveTV appears to freeze, what is the last few entries in the WinTVCap.log file?

Is the WinTVCap icon still in the system tray (bottom right) when the recording stops growing? If it is, then WinTVCap is still trying to record but the card or Hauppauge drivers have stopped producing data. You could try an manual recording with WinTVCap from the command line and see how long that goes for.

You got in with the last response before I posted my last reply - ignore it if it does appear to be lack of disk space.

The disk space had to be the problem. Is there a way to stop recording gracefully when you run out of disk space and return control to the program with a message that said you ran out of disk and livetv or recording has been terminated?

I'll add it to the todo list.

Sub,
I was playing with the live tv function. It looks like when you change channels and new livetv-X.mpg file is opened. The previous one is never deleted. Disk space gets used up real fast. Seems like if you change channels the old livetv-x file should be deleted. Do you think?

At the moment there are five livetv-x.mpg files and it cycles around them. I'll change it for the next release so that it removes the old one as soon as playback of that file is complete.

The ultimate goal is slightly different approach where files are record in small (about 200mb) chunks, with the application seamlessly switching files. This would allow you to specify a maximum livetv buffer size (say 5gb), and the application could be deleting old chunks behind the scenes. This strategy is not compatible with the way WinTVCap is implemented, so I'm trying to decide how to handle this aspect.

OK, That sounds good. At least, it won't just keep adding liveTV files. Also, can you record from Live TV. Lets say you are surf the channels and you want to record and keep something you come across. Can you press the record button on the remote and have GBPVR assign the show name to the liveTV file and save it in the library. Also, I don't think I understand the difference between Recordings and Video Library. The shows seem to be in both places.

So far I have been very impressed with this release.

Anybody with news on how the PVR 350 is working with this release? I am away for two weeks, so I can't test. [Image: sad.gif]
