In the case of watching a channel when a scheduled recording is coming up on the TIVO it pops up a window saying its going to change the channel so it can do the recording. So you can either let it change the channel or forget the recording.

A similar approach could used here or the bar minimum as suggested a reminder to turn off Live TV if you want your program to be recorded.

Yep, 'conflicts' like these are high on my priority list.

I think a pop-up is not very neat. When I'm doing pause-TV, I may not be watching when the recording has to start. So it is required to have the choice whether the recording is important or not made in advance. Therefore I would suggest two alternatives:
1/ Have a global option that tells whether live/pause or recordings take precedence.
2/ Have a flag for each recording whether it should take precedence.
I'm in favor or 1!

And now for something different: Yesterday I had pause tv running for over an hour (delay > 1 hour). When starting to watch everything seemed fine. Until some 23 minutes playing the screen went black and sound disappeared. Is there a maximum delay? (My 160GB HD wasn't full!Wink

I also got an error when trying to watch a manual recording from the recordings menu.

When using the red sky skin, after having "pressed" the on-screen play/pause button it turns blue (very very minor)

So far for now. My wife didn't have any problems with this release and she likes the red sky skin!

Combining these is a better solution than having one or other. You can set in the configuration your general preference as to what takes precedence.

Having something that pops up on screen to remind you that a scheduled recording is happening in x minutes offering you the option to overide the default setting would be good.

Chances are you will be watching live tv. There are circumstances when you will pause live-tv and be away for a period of time but under those circumstances maybe there should be an option of "record the rest of this programme" rather than taping 3 hrs of pause tv?

Cheers,

i can get live tv with this version (last one didn't)...so it's a step in the right direction...but video is extremely choppy...i imagine due to the timeshifting being used

Colin/Mabo, yes I was also thinking some sort of time out. If you're watching LiveTV, I'd pop up a message about a minute or two before the recording was scheduled to start giving the option to 'cancel the recording and continute watching' or 'return to the main menu'. If you dont respond by record time it would default to you configured preference.

-LD are you using PVR350 hardware playback, or software to your monitor? If software, you may need to change the default MPG software decoder. If you open the recording outside of GB-PVR is playback smooth?

Ignoring LiveTV, is playback of other existing .mpg files smooth in GB-PVR?

MaBo, there shouldn't be any file limit. How big was the livetv file?

Mabo,

just to rule out the simple things, is your drive formatted as NTFS?

Sub, any ideas what would happen with GB-PVR if it was writing to a FAT32 file system? Seeing as we are dealing with big files here [Image: smile.gif]. I assume the current livetv-x.mpg is not split into chunks yet (i think this was something you where proposing in another thread which would solve any Fat32 issues).

Cheers,

Good point, what is the maximum file size on FAT32? Is it 2gb?
