Hi,

Since upgrading to the latest version i have a problem that i've never had before. In the video library if i highlight a video file and press ok it plays fine. However if i highlight the video file and move left and press play, i get the message

Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

this seems to happen with every file.

any ideas? i have attached the only log file that updates when i recreate the error. is that the correct one?

thanks

Can you attach the gbpvr.exe.log file?

I finally resolved this problem for me. I was getting the "object reference" and the "unable to contact server" messages. I finally ended up upgrading my PVR150 drivers to resolve the "timestamp issue" and it resolved both of these errors.

It may not fix your problem, but it's worth a shot...

Same issue here on my (minimally functioning) client pc...
"Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

Whenever I select a recording on the server (or any other recording) and press the "Play" icon I get the above error.

Strangest this is.... If I double click the file, it plays fine.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

It wont be related to the above comments though. This is a pretty generic error and can mean lots of things.

Sub here are the logs you requested.

I have 2 seperate issues that I am trying to figure out... One of them is this error,
Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

I hope you can see from the the attached logs that I successfully played an mpg file by double clicking the file name in the right pane of the display.

After playing the file successfully I stopped it and then tried to play by
highlighting the file and clicking "Play" and again I received the Error msg.

Thank you as always,

Regards, Kevin

You seem to have entered the server name as '\\Admin' when it needs to be 'Admin'. This results in problems:

Code:
10/3/2006 7:35:58 AM.890    VERBOSE    [1]    getValue cached value: /settings/RecordingServiceLocation : [b]tcp://\\Admin:7968/RecordingRemote[/b]

Sub,

Thank you..... That entry corrected the other problem that I was experiencing. Prior to this, I could not connect to the backend when trying to view live TV on the client.

I still have the other Error message but that is managable. I can live with it.

Thank you again for a wonderful product and your untiring efforts in assisting those of us who can't help ourselves.

Sub,

Appologize it took so long getting back to you on this. I was doing some experimenting with the client and server. Both exhibit the same behavior when playing videos.
I can click the filename and the video will launch fine.
If I highlight the file name and press the play icon I get the "Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object".
Initially I thought it must be a Codec issue on the client...
I have more Codecs loaded that I wish to admit Sad
However, the server is esentially a minimal install of XP Pro, GBPVR and a few windows utilities. I never loaded the Codec pac or anything such as that on the server. I am baffled to figure out the root cause.

Anyway, as I mentioned before it is not a huge problem and I am not really concerned with it too much. But since you asked I felt compelled to forward the logs.

Thank you as always for your hospitality Big Grin

Kevin
