I'm unable to play DVDs though gb-pvr. When I select DVD from the main menu I get a black screen and the DVD never plays. I can go back to the main menu by hitting the stop button. I am able to play DVDs through Windows Media Player and I also have VLC media player which can play the DVDs. Are they trying to use different decoders then gb-pvr?

I saw another thread which mentioned a similar problem, but the user was also unable to play DVDs through WMP. Like I said, I don't have that problem. I would try to install one of the other options sub mentioned in that same thread, but they look like they all cost money and don't see why I should pay just to integrate DVD playing into gb-pvr. I can use another method, but it would be nice to play from within gb-pvr if possible.

What DVD decoders do have configured in the config app?

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

All dvd decoders are set to "System Default". How do I know what decoders those really are? Is that a registry setting?

I produced the log files the following way:

-deleted current log files
-started gb-pvr
-selected DVD from menu
-waited for playback to start (it didn't, waited for 3 minutes)
-hit stop button to return to menu
-exited from main menu

You're better off explicitly selecting a decoder rather than relying on the 'System Default'. If you dont have any options other than 'System Default', then you most likely dont have any compatible DVD decoders installed.

The log files, which you forgot to attach, would tell us what the system default decoder are on your machine.

Its trying to use the Intervideo NonCSS decoder which is not capable of playing encrypted DVDs. You'll need to select a decoder other than 'System Default'.
