Music files won't stop playing

I briefly searched the forums for this, but did not find anything. I am running version 97.13. The problem I am having is more of a minor annoyance than anything. When playing certain mp3 or other audio files and pressing the stop button, the audio does not stop playing. It slows down to half speed. I have to exit out to the main menu and press stop again or select another music file to play. This seems to be random as I cannot duplicate it with the same file twice in a row and it happens maybe 20% of the time. It also happen with video files but much rarer and they do not slow down, they just keep playing.

Any ideas?
