I have a Freecom usb stick which came with Arcsoft Totalmedia. Having found the far superior GBPVR I thought I may as well reclaim the 100mb that Arcsoft was occupying, but when I watched live tv or a recording, moving the mouse over the display didn't show the osd, and ctrl g/b didn't work. On reinstalling Arcsoft the OSD reappeared. Any idea what I'm losing that I need? As tv still works the drivers are obviously still present. Logs before and after uninstall attached.

One of the decoders - intervideo or cyberlink; I can't quite remember which one - needs a registry hack in order to work with OSD. Search these forums for the registry key if you think this might be your problem...

Thanks for that. Is this the patch you mean?

If so, it says that it should only be applied if your video card supports DXVA and VMR. How do I find that out?

Well I took the plunge and updated the registry but still no OSD. The display is exactly as it was before the update. This update seems to have worked for everyone else, so I'd appreciate any ideas why it doesn't for me.

Cheers

The Cyberlink decoder is not compatible with VMR by default, which result in two video renderers being added to the graph, and the OSD being missing. I can see this is what is happening on your machine.

You need to add the Cyberlink EnableVMR9 registry setting. Google should turn up the exact setting for you.

Quote:17:57:56.218 VERBOSE Graph contains the following filters:
17:57:56.218 VERBOSE - Default DirectSound Device
17:57:56.218 VERBOSE - Video Renderer 0006
17:57:56.218 VERBOSE - Video Renderer

17:57:56.218 VERBOSE - BDA MPEG2 Transport Information Filter
17:57:56.218 VERBOSE - GB-PVR PSI Parser
17:57:56.218 VERBOSE - MPEG Audio Decoder
17:57:56.218 VERBOSE - Overlay Mixer2
17:57:56.218 VERBOSE - CyberLink Video/SP Decoder DELL 5.3
17:57:56.218 VERBOSE - GB-PVR Flow Status
17:57:56.218 VERBOSE - MPEG-2 Demultiplexer
17:57:56.218 VERBOSE - USB Digital-TV Device Capture
17:57:56.218 VERBOSE - USB Digital-TV Receiver
17:57:56.218 VERBOSE - Microsoft DVBT Network Provider

Its worth noting though, that your machine is using some strange DELL version of the Cyberlink Decoder, so its possible this setting is different for this version.

Thanks for the reply. One of the settings in the patch from the link above is the enablevmr9 setting so that is already present. It must be as you say that the Dell version is slightly different. I'll do some googling on that.

Just for the record, that's the one I was thinking about.

Thanks Stefan. I added the whole of the patch from the thread I linked to, but no luck. As Sub says I guess it's something to do with the Dell version of cyberlink on my pc. I'll just have to reinstall arcsoft I guess.
