best way to move GBPVR

What is the baset way to move GBPVR to another machine? I have a much faster machine available now.

I assume the appropriate things to do are:

0. backup critical files! ;-)
1. shut down all GBPVR related services.
2. uninstall PVR hardware
3. install PVR hardware (and drivers) on new machine
4. copy or move video DATA files to new machine (into hopefully identical directory structure)
5. install GBPVR on new machine
6. copy GBPVR config.xml to new machine
7. copy GBPVR database to new machine

Am I missing anything major? Will this preserve the index of GBPVR recordings and keep my scheduled recordings intact?

After moving my GBPVR installation I took a look at the SQLite database for "kicks."

There are over 12000 entries in the programme table. How can this be? I have only a handful of recorded programs at the moment (i.e. fewer than 10).

Obviously I can NOT do an exhaustive review of 12k+ records, but at least some of the rows are programs I have never recorded. Is GBPVR distributed with a large number of entries entries in the database?

Also, many entries are programs that I *had* recorded, but have long since been deleted. This may be a vestige of the days when GBPVR used an MDB file and the driver did not properly delete records.

Can all these extraneous rows be deleted without affecting GBPVR? Would you like a copy of the SQLite DB for debugging purposes?

It shouldnt have (m)any records in the programme table in the database, unless you choose the 'populate EPG after database migration' option.

The process of changing databases starts by copying empty.db3 to gbpvr.db3. I've just checked now, and empty.db3 is definitely empty.

I've looked at my empty.db3 and it too is empty.

I may have chosen 'populate EPG after database migration' but that was sometime ago (after upgrading to 97.09 a number of months ago) so I don't remember.

To get rid of the "offending" entries would you suggest something similar to this:

1. export recordings list from config
2. delete * from programmes
3. import recordings list previously exported

Any programmes older than a day, that are not reference by a recording, will automatically be deleted at the next EPG update.
