Hellfire, what a response. Smile And to think I couldn't even find the listings in a decent format. I'll spend the rest of today absorbing what you've written and have a go. I'm currently using Birtles v3 grabber, launched from the XP scheduler. I'll dig the printer out and print out your post.

Thank you very much for the info and the time you've taken with your answer. I'll report in due course.

Thanks
Martin

Welcome :-)
Just discovered there is bit of a glitch with the TVmovies24 one, which I will fix as soon as I can. It repeats the same day, a bit like groundhog day. Smile

At present, it's biggest advantage for you as a UK user is the "No Schedule" capability and the ability to add missing channels. Taking nothing away from TVXB, but Birtles is an excellent grabber for the remainder.

OK, I've now corrected the glitch with the Movie24 downloads repeating the same day. It was my tiredness/dim-ness:

The download url is of this format:

url=http://www.tvmovies24.com/listings_by_day.aspx?Day=17-Aug-2006

so I wrote:

url=http://www.tvmovies24.com/listings_by_day.aspx?[Day=dd-Mmm-yyyy]

When I SHOULD have written:

url=http://www.tvmovies24.com/listings_by_day.aspx?Day=[Day=dd-Mmm-yyyy]

A very small but subtle difference.

Anyway, the updated ini's (in the original post) now contain TWO setups for Movie24 (The TCM2 descriptions are as good as I can get with the site access I have). So Movie24 now has either a faster (to download) or a slightly slower option.

The faster one just downloads and uses the main html page (one for each day), which has quite good summary descriptions. The slower one downloads the html linking to the full description (one for each film, so about 8~10) per day and adds Genre, Actor and Director fields. I have extracted these elements for future use. You can already see Genre in Enhanced Web Admin, but not Actor and Director. I guess I could have left the Actor and Director names in the description, but elected not to in these ini's as the Movie24 detailed descriptions often do that anwyay. It's not that slow once they are downloaded once, as TVXB caches the html files.

To change from fast<=> slow and vice versa you will need to remove all the "!"'s from the faster section ![movies24.sky.uk] and add "!"'s to the slower one. I suggest you save a copy before you fiddle around with it. Check that the times correspond too; I am not in the UK, so you might need to enable and change the htmltimezone and xmltimezone parameters, but I think they should be alright "remmed" out "!".

Cheers, sorry for the earlier snafu. This should get you going a bit better.

k.

[EDIT]OK, now that Movies24 works quite well, I just realised sky made it really rather difficult to strip dates/times out of TCM2, which will be incorrect with the ini's I supplied :o. The reason for this is the shows after midnight are on the same page as shows before midnight (see jpg attached), so they end up on the same day, rather than the next. I am trying to figure out a way around it. If you're willing to PM me the access logons for sky, (I'm not in UK so will never use it!) I can try and use the proper descriptions for TCM2. Movies24 is not afflicted by this issue.
[EDIT2]OK, programs seem to be OK now (pls d/l ini files again). I just have to figure out how to NOT have the last program (e.g. "Lust for Life"), showing as running for hours from 00:30 to 19:00 ....

Oh Dear, how can I put this???. I'm currently away from my machine with my foot in a temporary plaster, having rather stupidly dragged a very heavy workbench onto it. I'm not sure what, if anything is broken, but it looked a bit gruesome with a couple of nails hanging off :mad: :eek:

Currently at my brothers and not sure when I'll get back.

I've not managed to put any of your efforts into practice yet, although I did manage to have a quick look at TVXB which seems a very handy tool.

I'm not sure about your reference above to access logons for sky - I don't have any - the only codes I have for sky are contained in the viewing card and I've never had need to use their web site.

Oh Dear indeed! Look, you have other weightier Big Grin things to think of right now, so no hurry. You busted your foot and on the very same day, Sky has gone and changed it's TV pages (must be fate). So the ini I wrote for that channel has gone down the tubes anyway, but I can register now, I think. I will have another go at the ini with the new TCM2 listings but I don't hold out much hope as TVXB doesn't do Java. In real life, that link looks like this:

http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/te...cachetoken

Pretty awful isn't it Smile

By Register all you have to do is "Enter your viewing card number", whatever that is, if you are a digital subscriber.

Get well soon! Will let you know when (if) I post a new ini.

Martin,

Radiotimes are "on the case". Smile .

In the meantine TVXB will work fine for Movies24. I doubt we're going to get much change out of Sky's new Java-encoded TV Listings though :confused: . I contacted the TVXB author about it, we'll see what he says. I'm also interested in case my listings ever go the same way. UK users are lucky to have radio times, likewise US users with Zap2it. We don't have that, so rely purely on Grabbers, but I'm yet to find one that can read Java-encoded sites. If anyone knows of one, I'd like to try it out. I thought JavaXMLTV might, but it is just written in Java and is only for Oz anyway.

It seems practical that it would be more clever for a central database of all the XML's or listings to make XML's, rather than lots of people using Grabbers like TVXB and dialling up the providers servers.

k.

Subject: Movies24 and TCM 2 Listings on Sky?

Dear Sir/Madam

Would it be possible to have the listings for "Movies 24" and "TCM 2" Listings on Sky added to your rather large list?

Thank you,

k.

JK - I'm still not home yet, remote logging in at the moment.

I sent almost the identical email to the Radio Times (maybe with a little more crawling and grovelling) but never managed to get a reply. Hopefully they are taking note of all the requests although it sounds like the channels themselves are to blame for the lack of listings (Hmmm, I'll mail them as well).

Thanks again for all your time and effort

Martin

Mail sent to movies24.

It would be vastly appreciated if you could manage to get together with the Radio Times website so your listings could be included in their service.
As I almost exclusively use their service, non of your programming gets noticed unless someone happens to mention to me a specific movie is scheduled.

regards and thanks

I/We can only hope.

Hi Martin

Thank you for your email. We would love to be included on the Radio
Times websites and we are trying to do so but unfortunately not every
magazine or website wishes to run our listings.

As Movies 24 is a new channel, it does take some time for us to be
recognised and people are keen to list us.

Rest assured we are doing everything in our power for this to happen.

Kind regards
Movies 24 Team
