I'm using 97.13 on XP SP2 and i'm having trouble getting transcoding to work properly. When transcoding into any format (xvid divx wmv etc) from either the automatic conversion or from 'video library' it starts to encode and after a few minutes ffmpeg crashes leaving behind a partial (and non functioning) transcoded video file.

"Faulting application ffmpeg.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module ffmpeg.exe, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x000c59e6."

any ideas on what i'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance

I have fairly similar problems, but didn't investigate further. Sometimes the transcoding works perfect, sometimes the app just freezes and push my X2 4.200+ constantly nonstop to full Power.

Have you tried running ffmpeg from the command line to see if it generates any error messages?

hmm, no error messages. It got about 31MB in and windows politely informed me that ffmpeg needed to close, and in my command window it just stopped and I got a fresh command line. I've tried other versions of ffmpeg too Sad

I've had a similar issue, it used to be an intermittent issue, but now happens with every recording. I had an issue on my main PC(which doesn't really ever record) that was locking up the computer, but it was due to the Mpeg2 decoder, so I'm testing out if that will resolve my issue. Nothing is more frustrating that seeing multiple messages of "ffmpeg.exe has encountered an error and needs to close" when you return to your pc. If the mpeg2 decoder change doesn't resolve it I will go a little more destructive.
