Hi,

anyone know of any good mp3 lookup services/identifiers apart from Musicbrainz? For those who don't know this is not a way of downloading mp3s its just a service to help name your existing mp3s correctly!

Thanks

If you already have *some* of the details - suchas album name, artist, etc., I have found that mediamonkey does a very good job of finding and filling in the blanks from trawling amazon. The resulting tags are also 100% id3 compatible and can be read by itunes (a biggie if you have an ipod).

Hope this helps.

i found a great app call 'PsychicMP3.'

Its not developed anymore but google for it and you'll find the download page. It uses freedb for its song titles and ive found it has the best hit rate of any of the progs i tried. It will write to the file name or Id3v2 tags.

Plus it free!

The absolutly best program I ever have seen is the "Gracenote Media Manager". A couple of years ago I once had a beta trial and that program did everything automatically. It took fingerprints of the audiofile checked file names and ID3tags, identified the file connected to that online database, renamed and tagged the file and downloaded coverart. All that was need to do ,was to start the program and let it run for a couple of hours and the whole music collection was "organized" with filenames ad tags.
I would like to have a copy of that program again.
Best Regards
