What do you suggest is the best format file to use to test FF and RW with GBPVR?

Martin
Sorry, I didnt see this reply earlier. MPEG2 is much better with FF/RW with MVP and GB-PVR. This is also what GB-PVR records, and pretty much the only thing I test. I dont test MPEG1 at all.

Thanks sub, this will help focus things. I'll also look into adding a special gbpvr mode which will prevent ff/rw in mpeg1 mode.

BTW, understanding the logic behind Hauppauge protocol's ff'ing by i-frame is much more complex then I thought it would be. After "too many" hours, I still can't see video while it streams and it is little wonder you don't want to test everything, when you do have a working high quality mode.

It does work with some MPEG1 files, but not all. I'm not sure exactly what the difference is. I mainly just focused on the MPEG2 side of things.

Yes, I agree. It is incredibly complex - on both the MVP and server side.

With ethereal as my only documentation on how the Hauppauge MVP server works, it took me a lot hardware work to get FF/RW working in the GB-PVR server (and gbmvp.bin). Its still not as solid Hauppauge implementation, but I cant stomach any more work in that area in the near future.

I forgot you had the daunting challenge of both a client and server. I'm guess I'm actually pretty lucky, I've got Dominic Morris's work, your GB-PVR logs to help me as my understanding of the logic grow anda few from your "community" have even offered to help test.
