I was running version 9709 until earlier this evening. I thought I'd upgrade to the latest version 9713 to take advantage of the database switchover.
After installing I tried to run config.exe and it wouldn't run. Checked the event log for details on the Crash and got the following error.

.NET Runtime 2.0 Error:

Faulting application config.exe, version 1.0.2379.26394, stamp 00000019, faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.42, stamp 4333e7ec, debug? 0, fault address 0x00011b34.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I figured no big deal, I'll uninstall and install the old version then post here for an answer.
Heres whee the troubles began.

Uninstalled OK. Made a backup of my erroring GBPVR under the name BADDEVNZ.

Rebooted and tried installing the 9709. Same .NET error. Reinstalled .NET 2.0 Framework, and rebooted. Same error. Tried completely deleting all DEVNZ folders from computer after running an uninstall. This includes the BADDEVNZ. (I moved that to an external drive and disconnected it so I'd at least have a copy of my GBPVR.MDB to restore.)

Tried reinstalling again. This is a completely fresh and new install. No other GBPVR related materials are on my system. I installed 9713, got the .NET error. Uninstalled, rebooted, deleted DEVNZ. Tried reinstalling 9709, got the same .NET error.

HELP!!!!

My GBPVR WAS running without any problems for a couple weeks, and running with no major issues for the past couple months. I've posted minor issues here but never had a problem getting config.exe to run form a clean install.

I've run a hard drive and RAM diagnostic and both these are healthy. All Windows updates are done. My AV is E-Trust AV (Removed NOD32 when that became a known problem), and it's up to date.
Windows Firewall is disabled.

I'm out of any ideas. I need the big guns to come up with a plan. Sub any ideas?

Yupper. That was it. I've been running through Microsoft hell trying to get the patch. I reinstalled all .NET framework and manually installed all updates instead of trusting Winsdows updates. After reapplying and rebooting where needed, it's up and running.
However, all I can record now is the Cartoon Network. My Zap2it schedule is running fine, and the TV guide is correct.
The system records the shows as requesteed, but just recodrs that time slot on the Cartoon Network.
I get the same oproblem trying to change channels in live TV.

Hows that for weird?

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Where do you get you tv signal? ie, via tuner, or from external set top box box via svideo, composite or fixed channel.
