I am using existing cable that was ran inside my house that I'm running satelite and cable television. Well There's a spitter on the ousdie running in and it runs into the sattelite box and then out to my teleivision. Basically if I have the satelite on, then it bypasses the analog cable and if the satelite is off the analog cable is running.

The two questions I have is first how can I use the PVR to control my satelite box? I saw a utlity called directvcontrol, but I don't have directv, I'm running a diffrent satelite box. Second if I am able to control the satelitbox with the PVR, is there a way to select which EPG you want when you click on live TV?

I'm running the haupage 150 if that's of any help

Thanks in advance

Most people use an IR Blaster for this purpose.

No. The TV Guide will always show the combined list of all channels. I cant really understand what type of setup you're running that wouldnt allow for them both to be used at the same time, but I'll take your word for it.

I have both cable TV and satellite TV in my setup and it works well.

I'm not sure what happened, but I selected some options as fixed tuner trying to get the satelite working and all of a sudden the screen looked strange and I tried everything to get my cable setup back and I can't get anything. I uninstalled and spent hours, then reformated my HD just incanse something was there and that I would at least get back to wher I started and I'm still not getting any single.
Looks like I fried the tuner selecting one of the options. Maybe two signals together or something went wrong.

I hope you didn't plug your satellite LNB line into your analog tuner...

What's your setup looking like? I'm assuming by "splitter" you meant there is a diplexer to stack the satellite and cable frequencies on one cable.. and then another diplexer inside the house to separate them out.. and the cable signal is going into the RF IN or Antenna input to your satellite box.

Just take that cable and plug it into your 150's coaxial port. Then take S-Video and/or RCA cables to hook up the audio and video output from the satellite box to your 150.

The satellite channels will not be fixed tuner; it will be Composite or S-Video input depending on which you used. The cable channels will be internal tuner with the Cable option checked... with that, everything should work fine.. and in one EPG as sub mentioned.

Well I thought I burned out the tuner, but looks like I burnt out the diplexer. The LNB and cable as you said are combined outside and then split again and from my satelitebox I had one single cable going into my television. This is how I've ran it for years, when I want to watch cable television I just have the satelite off, when I want to watch satelite I just turn on the satelite and put it on channel 3.

Well I started to freak out thinking I messed up my tuner, since it wasn't working, but looks like I ruined the switch.

What I'd like to do is have both my cable and my satelite on my PVR, right now it's only my cable. Also I'd like to control the satelitebox with the haupage remote. This is where where I'm starting to get confused as to what to select in menu for the changer.

From reading what sub wrote can you stream both in at the sametime? What I mean is can I go up and down and not have to switch between satelite and cable?

Yes, but then I have separate cables going to my dish and antenna (and cable).

I'm using two different inputs - a satellite card and PVR500.

Is a satelite card a DVB card?
I'm running a satelite box similar to directv and cable and both were coming in the PVR with a single cable as I used to connect to my television.
Since the PVR150 I believe has multiple inputs, should I use on input for satelite and one for cable or is combining the signal alright?
