Hi,

Thanks for a great program. I am using gbpvr and its fine for what I need. I do have a couple of questions tho:

1. I can't make GBPVR skip or fast forward music with mce remote. Skip doesn't seem to work in either Play All or when playing m3u playlists. Remote is fine and keys work otherwise - e.g. fast forward works fine for videos.

2. I couldn't figure out how to disable visualizations. I want to do this for two reasons: a) produce less heat and noise - fans go slower without visualizations b) conserve CPU for other stuff running on the box

3. pls playlists (e.g. for shoutcast radio) don't seem to work. I love somafm stations but can't listen to them with gbpvr (somafm.com).

Thanks,
Ivan

There is no feature that fast forwards during music playback.

When playing a .m3u file or 'play all', then the skip button should jump to the next track.

YOU can set <UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>false</UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio> in config.xml if you want to disable them.

Thanks for a quick reply. Really appreciated.

It is a bit surprising there is no way to fast forward when playing audio. Why not? Sounds like something that's not very hard to do.

Anyway, changing from

<UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>true</UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>

to

<UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>false</UseWindowsMediaPlayerForAudio>

in config.xml causes gbpvr and config to crash immediately - windows 'Send error report' dialog comes up when trying to start program.

Eeek! Reverting to 'true' did not fix the problem! I tried restarting the service which immediately bails out. At this point I can't run gbpvr!

I've noticed something curious in the gbpvr directory - there are a few empty files e.g. config.exe-1, config.exe-2 ...

My box is running v0.98.8b upgraded from v0.97.13 on XP pro SP2. Attached config.xml after reverting to 'true'. There are no files ending with "log" in the gbpvr directory.

I can keep it in current state for a day or two if you want to debug. If not, there is the obvious simple remedy - reinstalling v0.98.8b from scratch.

Thanks,
Ivan

Just because I never needed it, and there has probably only a couple of people that have asked for it over the last couple of years.

On the config.xml causing a crash - it looks like whatever editor you used caused a problem.

You can fix it by editing the file and removing 'bitcontrol® MPEG-2 Video Decoder' from the <SupportedDecoders> setting. The edit seems to have stuff up with the '®' character.

..actually search the file for that character, it shows up a couple of times. Just delete it.

Truba I would be interested in knowing which version of the MCE remote you have. I have this one:

And I believe Sub has this one:

The reason I show them both is if you have the top one like mine I have the same problem but only when playing music. The skip and the FF/Rew work fine in video playback. To get around it I installed Girder and have the buttons mapped, as well as having the "green" button mapped to launch GBPVR and the Recorded TV button mapped to F7 so I can resize video playback. Should you go my route I would be happy to send you my config file so you would just load it and off you go.
