what affects divx/Xvid setting.. playback or dvd playback on gbpvr?

hi guys

I am having major issues with stuttering during divx/xvid movies/tv shows. i have tried using ffdshow,xvid codecs,offical divx codecs etc but with no success. the movies run fine yet every 5-10 minutes the movies freezes or stutters for a few seconds. i want to try diffent audio renderes but its not clear weather the playback or dvd playback settings affect divx/xvid...which one should i chnage?

Has this always occurred? Or is it a recent event -if so, have you installed anything? Does it happen with other media players, like Zoomplayer or WMP6.4? Does it happen with minimum services running -(alt+ctrl+del all non-essentials)? What hardware: CPU, RAM etc?

To change the audio renderer for media files use the playback tab. As an experiment, try reclock & see what happens. http://reclock.free.fr/main.htm

i have tried recolock and i didnt work . the problem happens with ZP as well. i have a p4 (1.7), 512 mb rdram, a gfroce fx5200 card,and a 200GB ide drive (though the divx stuff comes from a network connection). would love anymore comments if anyone has any

I'd uninstall reclock if I was you. It seems to cause more problems than it fixes.

Could it be a plugin, e.g weather plugin connecting every x mins?

its not a plugin, i dont have the weather plugin installed and as i said it happens on zoomplayer as well. the reclock option really didnt help and following subs advice ill uninstall it. i really dont know what to do, watching divx and xvid is really unberable...i dont what to go though a new install of windows and all that comes with it (sp2,drives, codecs, etc..) just to find out it didnt help :o ...any other suggestions would be appriciated

Its probably something to do with either the audio decoder or audio renderer you're using.

Sometimes, it's better to not know what is wrong, but know that it will work after a reinstall...

How fast is your network connection? If you copy the divx/xvid to your local harddrive, how does it play? If it plays fine locally, then it's time to tweak up your network. Most modern networks run at 100BaseT but with so much overhead that one rarely gets above 60 Meg 'bits' an sec out of that 100, and then not nearly smoothly enough...

I'm still unsure as to whether this has been an issue for you since your last OS reinstall? Or if it is a recent event?

If since your last OS (re)install, why did you reinstall? Hardware upgrade? Software issues?

Hopefully, it is to do with your LAN which would be a relatively simple fix. If not, could it be the DirectX 9.0c quartz.dll issue?

its really great to wake up and see all these answers, this forum site is really one on the best and nicest ive been a member in!
As to my on going problem....this hasnt been an issue since my first install but rather started a few weeks ago (on all apps: ZP,etc..). the funny thing is that i installed gb-pvr on a client computer and got the same Jerky playback problem.
I thought at first about the networkm but i have a LAN 100mbit setup and when i copied the file to the local hard drive i got the same bad results so its not the lan unfortunantly .

I will wait for other ideas before i give up and dedicate another weekend for installing windows again (and all that comes with it-directx,SP2, codecs software etc...). does anyone have any recomendations on which decoders i should use this time (ffdshow,original divx etc...) for divx,xvid playback?
