Thanks for this document. This was the kind of information I was asking for in my earlier post here.

I have installed ExternalRecorder v9. VLC is working fine for me. I can record the show in VLC. However with this string: {channel} Confusedout=#transcode{vcodec=mp2v,vb=1024,scale=1,acodec=mp2a,ab=192,channels=2}:duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=ps,url=^"{fullname}"^}} in the parameterlist of ExternalRecorder I get from GBPVR 'Error:Cannot start process because a file name has not been provided'.

The NASA channel has been configured in the ubustream plugin setting to use VLC. I have replaced {channel} with {channelnumber}, because ExternalRecorder documentation and forum were confusing about that one. Unfortunately no effect.

I assume GBPVR should generate the fullname for the recording. It looks as if that is not happening properly. Any ideas?

Despite what it says on the ExternalRecorder config screen, {channel} is still correct and {channelnumber} does not work. (Also the second "Start Preview Executable" should say "Stop Preview Executable, not that that's relevant to this discussion).
Quote:I assume GBPVR should generate the fullname for the recording.
And {fullname} will be replaced by the full path and filename of the GBPVR recording file (In v8 this was {filename} but this now generates the filename without the path, so v9 will not work with v8 parameters until this is changed. All very confusing, I agree. It took me a while to figure out what was going on.

Anyway, you seem to have all those pieces in place and the parm string appears to be correct (I assume you cut and pasted it from my sample setup doc). Are you just experiencing a problem with the NASA TV URL? Did you try it withy any other URLs (the Research TV one in my example, for instance)?
Quote:I get from GBPVR 'Error:Cannot start process because a file name has not been provided'.
Does this show up in the GBPVR log? Anything else in the logs? Any clues to ExternalRecorder's progress? How about the last entry in the UbuStreamCmd.log file? Does VLC load at all? I'm not sure which file the GBPVR message is referring to.

I'm having an issue getting the list view to launch mplayer fullscreen. I can, however, launch the stream full screen from the command promt using mplayer like this:

mplayer -fs http://link.to.my.stream:8493

I added mplayer to the list of players and specified '-fs' for the fullscreen command parameter. I also tried just 'fs' and it didn't work either. Mplayer does launch successfully, but it is at native resolution instead of fullscreen. If I press the fullscreen toggle key 'f' in the window (native res) it will go full screen.

Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? Mplayer works out of the box with my remote control set up (ie escape exits back to GBPvr). This plugin is way cool, btw!

Just a guess but are you putting a space before the '-fs'. You need to specifically prefix it with a space because some players require the fullscreen parameter to be concatenated to the app command without a space (RealPlayer, for instance).

If that's not it just post the UbuStreamCmd.log and UbuStream.xml files here and I'll take a look.

Thanks. I tend to hear about the problems people have with the plugin. Not so much people posting "It works fine and I'm a happy camper". Smile

The space is what I needed. Thanks for the speedy reply.

In case you are interested, I'm using your plugin to view a webcam we have streaming from her bedroom/nursery. We can now monitor her without disturbing her or getting up out of our bed as we are able to watch the stream from any tv in the house.

You rock! Wink Thanks again!

Is there a different place to get the latest zip file? The WIKI is so horrible. Maybe you can offer it on your worldwidemediaproject web page. Or, maybe you could just attach it to a message here?

Thanks,

I found that you can type in a different address to get the zip file.
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/uploads/Plugin/U...m.v1.6.zip
will get the file you need. The link that is in the WIKI just seems to sit there.

What's so horrible about the Wiki? Are you having a problem downloading the zip file?

All day yesterday, I could not get the zip file. I would keep getting a timout message. Then for giggles I thought I would try the Weather plugin and that worked fine. So I looked at the links and noticed a difference. The Weather plugin link looked like this:
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/uploads/Plugin/W...tup.98.zip
The UBUStream looked like this:
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugi...m.v1.6.zip

So, I tried reforming the UBUStream link in my browser to look more like the Weather link and bingo it worked. What this tells me is that it may not be the Wiki itself, but the pearl script or what ever else that link is using to get the file. I looked at several other links when getting the common utilities and the external recorder plugin and some others and when the link looked like the weather plugin link, it worked and when it looked like the UBUStream link, it didn't.

This is interesting stuff but would be better posted in a more general support thread. This thread is really for UbuStream announcement/support issues. It does seem the wiki has been having some problems for the last few days. You should take a look at these threads:
