Hello,
First, I'd like to extend my great appreciation for this app and all of the support here on the forum. I have been using it for about a year and this is the first problem (of many I've run into) that I can not resolve by searching the forums. I actually think I hit a maximum search limit on Google trying to find something to explain this problem, haha. Alos, I'd like to make a special note of thanks to sub and all the testers for the atsc-scan5 update--worked like a gem--good job! I'd also like to pre-apologize for the long post--just want to give as much info as I can.

Here it is:
Until about a week ago, I was close to having everything working well (after atsc-scan5.zip) and about to permanently shut-down my VNC server and leave the box as an remote control only "appliance". . . then audio from my ATSC recordings stopped working. I had recently changed the BDA Mux to the ATI Mux, hoping ot be abel to stream with VLC from EnhancedWebAdmin. However, I honestly don't remember touching the PC the day it stopped working, and it worked during the ATI Mux stage, so I'm not sure what, if anything, changed. I could still hear audio from the HD recordings if played in WMP 10. I tried every software setting/combination I could mess with from Config.exe, but no luck.

Just a side note: I did notice one strange thing at this point, if I opened lastgraph.grf and clicked Play, video would play, but no sound. I tried some things in there and determined that if I disabled the "Set Clock" on the AC97 Audio Renderer and clicked play, sound would work.

I figured all this had to do with too many codecs/junk software being loaded (I had to do a lot of messing around to try to playback HD smoothly on a GeForce 6200, but finally gave up and got the 6800XT.) I wanted to expand my storage, so I figured now was a good time to reinstall from scratch with a new disk. During the upgrade, turns out my motherboard went bad, one memory bank and SATA wouldn't work, so got a new motherboard, too.

Ok, to make a LONG LONG story shorter, I finished the reinstall (now with XP SP 2), updated drivers, 0.98.8, atsc-scan5.zip, etc. PC itself seems to be running much smoother.
  • GBPVR still won't play audio for HD recordings or LiveTV (HD).
  • Will play sound for SD recordings (don't have PVR-150 source configured yet to test LiveTV-SD).
  • PureVideo Icon does not come up in task bar when playing recordings from GBPVR, but does when playing from WMP10.
  • Windows Media Player 10 will play audio for HD files.
  • lastgraph.grf plays fine the first time.
  • Checked for the LastVolume problem.
  • Set the AddGraphToRTO = 1 regedit trick to connect to graph, Graphedit too buggy to open audio renderer properties once connected.
  • Updated the quartz.dll to version 6.5.1.902, just in case, no luck, either with audio playback or opening Audio Renderer properties in Graphedit.
  • Tried VMR9 instead of VMR9Custom (what I normally use to display SD without garbage on sides), no luck.

Well, it's too late for me to provide any more valuable information. I'm attaching log files where I 1) played an SD recording, sound worked 2) played HD recording, played HD live TV, played HD recording, all no sound. Opened final LastGraph.grf, got screenshot, played graph, took screenshot to show the clock setting on the Audio Renderer.

Thanks in advance for any help in resolving this. If anyone needs anyhting else/more info, please let me know.

Thanks,
Veigo

Can you attach your logs? You indicated you did above, but must have forgot.

Given you're getting audio on your SD stuff, but not on your HD stuff, then it sounds like whatever audio decoder you're using is not correctly handling AC3.
