I am seeing some very odd behavior by comskip... when I play back a file that has been comskip'ed in GBPVR, all of the commercials appear in the first half, while the second half show's clean. It is almost like gbpvr thinks there's twice as many frames as there actually is, so it squeezes all the commercials into the first half. I checked the framerate in the comskip log, and it's 29.97 as it should be for the ATSC source.

When I look at the debug window for comskip, everything is right on. I've attached a picture to help demonstrate the problem.

ok,
1. arre you transcoding?
2. have you checked the comskip cutfile to see if the cuts are correct?
3. not sure, but could this be a problem with the mux (sub)?

I am not doing any transcoding. I (think) I have checked the cutfile, as when I look at the comskip output in the debug window, everything is in the right place. I don't really know how to interpret the cutfile, to relate frames to location.

I am using dvr-ms mux, if that makes any difference...

Play the file, then zip and attach the gbpvr.exelog and gbpvr.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

I'll also need the gbpvr.exe-native.log file.

Ooops... sorry about that missed that the first time around...

It does indeed appear as though it's being recognized as twice the FPS (59.94)... not sure why or what would cause this?

What frame rate and resolution is video? A lot of ATSC video is actually 60 frames per second - ignoring what comskip thinks it is, this sounds valid to me. 480p and 720p transmissions normally use 60 frames per second. 1080i and analog are usually 30 frames per second.

Maybe comskip has got it wrong?

What is the best way to determine the ACTUAL framerate of the video?

To be honest, since this is a DVR-MS file I'm not really sure. Most of the utilities that show this info are only compatible with .avi and .mpg files.

I've just checked the code, and I'm fairly sure I'm getting it right. It might be worth asking on the comskip forums so Erik can check his end. http://mk.kaashoek.com/comskip/index.php
