Will this card work in GB-PVR? They have a FAQ that says it will work with Sage in XP - and someone else on the BeyondTV forum contacted them and they said it should work since it has BDA drivers. I'm on Windows 2000, but the product page says that's supported, too.

I think it has the same ViXS X-Code II as the NVidia DualTV, though, which doesn't seem to be supported. Is that because of something with the hardware, or merely because NVidia has released MCE-only drivers (not XP/MCE)?

Thanks

Digital cards based on this chipset will already work, but will require the cards specific filternames to be added to bda.ini.

Analog cards wont work with the current release, but I've made a small change for the next release which should get it working.

Great! My need is analog (cable). (What digital signals are these for - DVB? They aren't ATSC, are they?) I know you don't promise release times, but as long as you don't mean months away that's great news since I have few options for various reasons. If you need a tester for the cards I'm game.

EDIT: If there's a standard driver architecture (BDA), why do cards need special support? Is BDA insufficient, or is it just that each cards works best with a custom graph? Just curious..

If its a digital version of this card (ATSC), then the BDA drivers should work fine. As a first user of this specific device you'd need to add a section to bda.ini that contains the names for the card, but other than that it should just work.

If its an analog card, then it is not related to this BDA standard, which is digital only - instead it uses WDM drivers. There are several different ways WDM driver components can be hooked up. GB-PVR is designed to work with a few common ones. This card uses a slight different way of hooking things up, so needed some modifications to accommodate these differences.

A maintenance release is probably due in a few days that includes this change.

I guess I thought BDA was the successor to WDM and included analog. As far as I know there's only a NTSC version of this (don't know about PAL). The Vixs chip is for mpeg encoding so that doesn't make sense for ATSC (already encoded). It makes sense a bit more as to why there's a custom bit in there for different cards.

Looking forward to the release. If I get the card I'll let you know it works. Thanks!

I'd be thrilled to know if the maintenance release worked with this card! Not only is it dual tuner with hardware encoding but it's PCIx!

Hi,

StupaFly, please let me know if it works with GBPVR, or if you have problems, how you solve them. That way I can post it on our FAQ's.

Thanks,

Shimon

Ok I got my card, plugged it in, drivers auto-detected and it looks fine. It doesn't show up in the list of capture cards available to select from. Do I need to add it to direct.ini (and if so, how)?
