I am having trouble recording shows when the PC goes into standby or hibernate mode. Is GB-PVR supposed to wake the machine to record from these modes?

Yes it is and it works for me without having to do any tweaks. I'm not sure where I'd start if it didn't though.

You could probably start anywhere because if you have a problem with this it can be anywhere.Big Grin

@ dongna; if you go to the Capture Sources page of the configuration, have you got the "wake machine" box ticked in the EPG Update section?

I doubt if that has got something to do with it, thats only for the epg-update.

@ dongna: Does your system wake up at all when it has to? If it does but it does not record right it's probably something with the tunercard not being initialised right after wakeup. You'll need to give more info to get more info from here.

I believe I jumped to a false conclusion. At this point, I don't believe GBPVR is recording anything at all for me.

Here's my situation:

I have Win XP Home and a Hauppauge PVR500 tuner card. I first installed GBPVR (an older version) months ago and had success recording shows, but I didn't use it regularly as I am still planning on purchasing a Media MVP and without I have no way to play back shows on my TV set.

Then recently, I upgraded to the latest version. Had to do a database conversion which seemed to work fine. Recorded one or two shows as a test and it seemed to work. So I set up a whole bunch of recurring recordings, only to find they weren't getting recorded. Sometimes I would get the show in the Recordings section, only to be told that the recording had "failed". Other times nothing appeared at all. My initial thought was that it was not recording if my system went into standby or hybernate mode-- hence the reason for my initial post.

But so far this morning, I have first set my Windows power settings to prevent my PC from going into standby or hybernate, and set it to record a couple of shows as a test. It didn't record (nothing showed up in the "Recordings" section).

So now I'm not sure what to do. Is there some "reset" function I can do to make sure everything is set properly? Is there something else I should do first? Should I uninstall and re-install? I've seen people mention logs... is there something in those that would give a clue as to what's not working?

Any advise appreciated.

The logs will be essential, here. They can be found in C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr with the ext .log. Zip them all up and attach the zip file to your posting. Get the system to misbehave then do the zipping. Tell sub which recording failed.

Just to say on the issue of wake-up, that having that box ticked (for the EPG update) is definitely crucial for me; without it my computer won't wake to record. Not sure if that is how it's meant to work though.

You mentioned "recurring" shows, I have similar shows failed if I record shows using the scheduler plugin, part of the xrecord suite.

I have set up my pc to hibernate (psshutdown utility from http://www.sysinternals.com) after every recording or cancel the hibernate process if there is another recording next. The PC does wake up by itself again for the next recording.
