I had this problem some weeks ago on several different days. It has since gone away but I am not sure why. I had made some configuration changes (Currently using nVidea Pure Video for video decoder, Cyberlink audio decoder, and the system default audio renderer ). You might try using Cyberlink decoders since these are what are shipped in most of ATI's partner's packages for 550Pro boards.
I think sub is correct! The problem is likely due to the 550Pro interaction with one or more of the other drivers involved in playback.
Based on the following ATI claim for the Theater 550Pro (ATI Feature Description), it should handle all the mechanics of audio recording:
"Built-in digital audio capture enables perfectly synchronized video and audio"
A couple of days ago I stumbled upon this Hexus ATI User Forum during a Google search:
http://forums.hexus.net/forumdisplay.php?f=123
It has a sub forum dealing with the newer ATI TV tuners, and appears to have an ATI employee participating. This is strange since a search of ATI's site support turned up no reference to this forum.
This may be the best avenue for follks to pursue if the problem persists.
Regards
Garth
