I'm not sure if this is a "My Videos" issue or a GBPVR issue, but since (as I understand it) any video plugins eventually defer to GBPVR to actualy play a file, I posted here first. What happens is, once every 4 or 5 times I go to play a video file (usually AVIs but sometimes MP4s), GBPVR locks solid, goes into "Not Responding" state and I have to kill it. Playing the same file again (or in WMP) works fine, its definitley not the files themselves.

I'm using "My Videos" 5 RC3, and I can entirely understand you (Sub) might say its a MyVids issue, but if you could have a peep at the logs I'd be most grateful.

I've attached logs just in case....

BTW I'm using GBPVR 0.98.13b

I'm guessing its ffdshow, since this has been known to cause this sort of problem in the past. Try taking ffdshow out of the equation and see if the problem still occurs.

I posted a message yesterday (or day before) explaining a similar issue, but the post disappeared.

I'm just playing ordinary MPG files -- no AVI or MP4's - -just plain jane recored MPG files. It will hang for a LONG time before playing them -- or in the case of a 2 hour movie, it just went to "not responding". I didn't change anything or do anything different when I upgraded but it's only started this since the upgrade to .13.

In my previous post, I left the logs and such -- not sure where the post went though.... I'll post them again here.

I just did a search, and your post is still there: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=21022

Yours is probably a different issue then (your problem description even sounds different). I'm pretty sure his relates to ffdshow.

For the sake of closure, I thought I'd let you know that I updated my ffdshow to a newer version, and it did indeed fix the problem.

thanks for the advice

Dave.
