Hello all,

Whould card would you recomend to use with GB-PVR?
I don't need analog tuner / mpeg encoding, QAM / cable; just OTA ATSC.

There are some cards I know about:
1. ATI 650 $130
2. VBox DTA-150 $80
3. AverMedia A180 $80
4. MyHD 130 $180
5. Fusion 5 HDTV RT gold $150 (with remote)
6. Fusion 5 HDTV RT lite $100
7. ADS Tech Instant HDTV $130 (with remote)

Thanks.
Best Regards.
Mike.

Get the Fusion 5 lite. It's the newest of the bunch IIRC and works extremely well with GBPVR.

Would the recommendation stand for those of us who want to record from 2 inputs?

- OTA HDTV via coax connector
- Expressvu satellite (STB) via S-Video connector

Doesn't seem like the Fusion comes with an IR blaster (to control my STB)?

Thanks for the info Smile

You'd probably need two cards currently, since the analog side of most of these ATSC devices lacks the required MPEG2 encoder hardware. There are few new devices currently coming to market that do have this hardware MPEG-2 encoder (ATI 650 pro plus a few others I cant name yet).

Its worth noting that you can only either analog or digital with all these hybrid cards, not both at the same time.

I recently wrote a little Primer on Dual Cards, which I'd like really like some feedback for if anyone is researching these,

Ta!

Thanks for that primer jksmurf -- it cleared up some questions. Would the Fusion fit somewhere in that list?

Ok, I took a look at the specs for the Fusion5 ( http://www.fusionhdtv.co.kr/eng/Products/RTGold.aspx ) but I can't really tell if it's go the MPEG2 encoder hardware. It mentions "internal MPEG encoder SW" but that's very ambiguous to me -- 'internal'? 'sw'?

SW (or S/W) normally=Software, so my guess would be Software Encoding, not H/W. GBPVR only supports the latter, although there is a plugin for S/W (You'd need a beefy PC though).

Sub appears to confirm this here.

GB-PVR cant use the analog side of this device.

The only ATSC card currently on the market with analog hardware MPEG2 encoder, that I know of, is the ATI 650 Pro - though I am aware of a couple of others that will appear very soon.

Ok, so with the ATI 650 Pro, I could have both analog and ATSC inputs as recording sources in GBPVR? (not interested in simultaneous recording/watching of the two sources)

Should I wait for one of the new devices your (not) talking about? Wink

I'd like to avoid having to 2 tuners cards in my machine. Thanks.
