the filter check seems to have found the filters ok..

The pins are not listed which indicates a problem. See my previous reply on the last page for a more detailed description.

It looks like this filter is listed as being present (ie, its in the registry), but when the app goes to load it, the load fails.

OK, here's a fat bolus of log data surrounding the problem. These logs include a couple of failed attempts to view timeshifted ATSC (AVerMedia card), a successful view of timeshifted S-video (Hauppauge PVR-500) and a successful attempt to view a chunk of recorded ATSC. If this is too much of a flood let me know and I'll clear everything and try to isolate the problem.

This archive also includes FilterCheck.log.

I skimmed through it and gbpvr.exe-native-3.log looks particularly interesting. There are pFG2->RenderEx failures that seem different from what I've seen elsewhere.

Thanks for taking a look, sub.

Sorry to be a pain, but can you set the MVP auto start servers to zero, then reproduce the problem and repost the logs?

Unfortunately only the first instance of gbpvr.exe produces logs, which is an MVP server in this case, so the logs dont contain the info relating to this problem.

Not a pain at all. It will be easier to sift through if I try to isolate the problem, anyway.

It will have to wait until tonight, though. I can only do so much through a tunnelled VNC link.

I appreciate your help.

Hi sub, here's a new set of logs (including the FilterCheck output). The sequence of events followed was:

1. Stop GBPVRTray.exe and GBPVRRecordingService.
2. Delete all logs.
3. Restart GBPVRTray and the recording service. Verify configuration
(turn MVP servers to zero).
4. Fire up GBPVR.
5. Tune to channel 5 (ATSC), try to timeshift via Pause icon. OK (!)
6. Tune to channel 4 (ATSC), try to timeshift via Pause icon. OK (!)
7. Tune to channel 11 (ATSC), try to timeshift via Pause icon. Got
the "Object reference not set" error.
8. Tune to channel 17 (ATSC), try to timeshift via Pause icon. Got
Object reference error.
9. Tune to channel 17 (ATSC) via TV Guide, select Quick Rec.
10. Play Quick Rec ATSC show file, plays just fine.
11. Change a few ATSC channels.
12. Tune to channel 176 (Analog), timeshift via Pause icon. OK
as expected.

I have no idea why ATSC timeshift initially worked this time, unless it had something to do with my clearing everything out.

Thanks for any help you can provide from the new set of logs.

Is it always vie the pause icon? ie, do you get the problem if you use the Ctrl-Q keys instead?

Are you double clicking or single clicking?

I've never tried timeshifting via Ctrl-Q, always via pause icon. I USUALLY single click the icon but am sure I've double-clicked on occasion. Don't recall any big difference offhand.

The Object reference error always shows up after the "Entering timeshift mode" is displayed on the screen for a couple seconds.

Could this be a Windows navigation issue?

I'll try ctrl-Q later to see if that makes any difference.

Thanks!

Over the weekend, I tried Ctrl-Q to timeshift live TV a couple of times and it seemed to work fine.

I honestly have no idea why I was getting the Object Reference missing errors. This seems to be a minor issue possibly related to Windows Forms management so if I can narrow things down I'll let you know.

For now I'll just use Ctrl-Q to pause my ATSC stream.

Thanks, sub!
