Vobsub not loading

now I know you dont consider it a bug sub, BUT I am very interested in how GBPVR actually creates its graph, also why is it looking for the Cyberlink MPEG mux?

What do you mean? You're probably referring to the check that is performed when the user first enters the Video Library? This is done to determine what transcode options can be presented in the transcode popup. ie, .DVR-MS -> .MPG requires the Cyberlink mux.

yeah, looking at the logs it happens a few seconds before I start playing the file. so that must be what is going on.

yeah, so when I render my matroskia files using graphedit, they include directvobsub.

also I looked a little bit into how directvobsub works, and it should have no problem with overlay mode. vobsub sits between the decoder output and the input of the renderer, this means that it modifies the video stream itself, and is not an on screen display, therefore it should display subtitles along with allowing the GB-PVR OSD to be displayed, even in overlay mode. could this be the reason for the problem? the fact that it sits between the video decoder and GB-PVR?

I wont be going home till sunday but if you want me to post an image of the graphs I get when trying to play these files I will when I get home.

ok so I finally got the dumb subtitles to work. if anyone is wondering why they were messed up... well I blame xvid.
I noticed that when I was rendering files, some used coreavc , and some used xvid, when xvid was used, the subs didnt work in gbpvr. to fix this, I removed xvid from my system, and vola all my subtitles work for my anime. yaay. specifically chrno crusade from KAA

I just installed gbpvr, and I stumbled upon your thread posting here:

about playing .mkv files. I'm in the same boat; I have a lot of KAA rips, and the subtitles sometimes do not show up. I've installed the Combined Community Codec Pack (http://www.cccp-project.net/), but that doesn't seem to help the situation. You said that you solved this by removing xvid. So do you now only use ffdshow to play back files that were encoded with xvid? Which codec packs did you then use? I have ghost image of my install, so if I need to start from scratch, I can.

at the time I think I had coreAVC installed (part of the pack) and that seemed to handle xvid files.

ok so I reinstalled my codec pack and is hosed the subtitle situation. so I now have no clue how to get it working... again it seems some codecs were causing a problem when loading, I wish there was a way I could open everything up and see where the problem is ocuring.

I think that's the problem with codec-pacs. You probably get to many codecs. You might want to try ffdshow, it plays almost everything (afaik) and it has a built-in sub-viewer. They just released a new version a few days ago (vista ready I think).

unless they built in support for ASS subs, then it wont work on KAA files, but yes it does have a built in sub viewer

well coreAVC works well, if I use that vobsub loads correctly. for some reason some codecs dont play well with directshow
