Hi There,

Every couple of hours my computer crashes while running GBPVR. It happened when I was running the frontend, so I kept the front end closed, but my OS still crashed.

I have closed GBPVR and the GBPVRserver, and I am going to go home at the end of the day and see if it has crashed again. I.E. I am going to confirm whether it is GBPVR actually doing it, but it seems like it.

I have attached my log files. Any ideas?

GB-PVR is a ring 3 app, which would be unable crash your entire machine, even if it wanted to. The worst that would happen is the GB-PVR processes would crash, or not perform the way you'd expect.

If your computer is literally crashing, then it'll most likely be buggy drivers causing it (ring 0 code) - probably the capture device drivers, but it could be other things like a bad bit RAM, motherboard chipset bug, bad powersupply etc.

Hi There,

I have the latest capture drivers. I have a Hauggpauge PVR150 with remote.

I am also trying to get media portal working, and the remote is not working with media portal. Do you think it could be a dodgy remote control driver issue? I wouldn't think so, but I have the latest drivers.

Hi There,

Any tips on diagnosing a possible RAM issue, or the other things you mentioned?

When you machine crashes, it'll normally give you some information (blue screen messages, or messages in Windows Event log) - what info did it give you?

Unfortunately it just froze, so it gave me no info.

I looked in the event.log file and there is nothing in there.

It has crashed a few times since I looked there, so I will have another look.

Thank.

Try and get a local friend who knows computers to give you help with your machine. It is almost impossible to do in depth analysis without seeing the machine. There are just too many things that could be the cause of your problem.

What dneprrider said. We'd need a hell of a lot more info about your system, age, etc. when it started occuring, (immediately after GBPVR was installed?) any conflicts in Hardware etc etc. very difficult to do that remotely. Does it go away if GBPVR is uninstalled?

If it "just froze", I'd be more inclined to have a wee look at your hardware first, if for nothing else than to rule it out. I had a "freeze" problem once; turned out the CPU fan was busted, so when it got to be "worked" a lot it overheated and Windows ... "froze". Bad Ram might do this same.
