it's a well known problem that wmp seems to get in the way of certain keypresses. Trouble is, if you want visualisation you need wmp...

Changes:
[*]Fixed error where only the seconds portion of a song was going into the db, not the full actual length.
I expected this would fix the track length on the display. According to my experiments outlined below it hasn't.

Ad b){PC Client} Title and Album art displayed OK; Actual time point on track is OK; Track duration only seconds are displayed
Ad c){MVP} Title and Album art displayed OK; Actual time point on track remains 00:00:00; Track duration only seconds are displayed
The image below still shows in between () only the seconds part of the total track length. Did I miss something?

EDIT: Apology: Accidently deleted the image.

As stated in my original post I did indeed a nuke the library followed by a rescan. I should install a SQLlite browser to check the database if it was really repaired. I will double check that this shortly.

EDIT: I have checked the database in the meantime. I assume duration is in seconds there. Most of the track durations are over 60, so I assume the problem is not there.

psycik, I set the use WMP to false, and now certain MP3's play but output no sound through my SPDIF out. Just need to figure out where to start troubleshooting; my mobo has onboard audio with Realtek HD Audio driver/program, and I've checked settings there and in WMP, they play fine with that combo; what player is ML2 using if not WMP?

thanks,
murph

An internal gbpvr player.

Umm, I have output from my spdif out through gbpvr and ml2. I think thats is part of the "playback" decoder settings. I have cyberlink power dvd decoder set to push everything out through the spdif...

I remain confused about the functions of scanning the database. As far as I understand there are three/four? options:
a) Nuke the library and rebuild from the config tool
b) Scan from the config tool
c) Scan from the client interface
d) Fast scan from the client interface

Maybe I am not a good observer, but after changes in ID3 tags of some files I only noticed a difference under situation a).
Both b) and c) report to me that some 140 ID3 tags have been read. If I look via the client in the library for changes I do not see them. Also after restarting the client I haven't seen the changes.
Situation d) finalises almost immediately without any messages. It is unclear to me (from the WIKI) what the difference between Scan and Fast scan is.
Am I missing some point here?

I think the fastscan only works if gbpvr is running when you make the changes to your files. My guess is also that you have to have fastscan enabled in ML2-settings to make it work. I still have all scanning set to OFF, because of problems in the past. I don't add music very often, so that's no problem for me.

Probably half or more of select mp3 files will not playback any audio via SPDIF or headphone out. I have over 5000 mp3's dating back 4-5 years; It seems to be entire album folders have no sound with GBPVR 98.13, and ML@ 4.3

1. Clean install of GBPVR 98.13 and ML2 4.3
2. cleaned and retagged album folder using Media Monkey (basic free id3 editor, gets tag and art from amazon.com)
3. tags, album art, and audio all work fine with WMP
4. nuked and rescanned entier library with no effect
5. switched to SQL database, nuked and rescanned with no effects

Some album files work fine, and I can find no differences in the tags or album art. Most were encoded with Winamp years ago. I do need to test playing with the default GBPVR media library tonight; have any other suggestions?
All albums are in the root folder of a dedicated harddrive, if that has any impact...

Thanks again,
murph.
