Here's an update with some issues that I am seeking your assistance with. I have attached the .exe files below.

1. When I click on and run the gbpvr software from my computer (w. attached monitor) the software loads and reveals the main manu screen. When I click on the LIVE TV option, there is a small delay, but then the television channel (video) appears. However, it is backwards and upside down. Please advise.

2. When I view the television signal (from the computer & monitor) through to my television (the tv needs to be set to TV/Video Channel 3) in order to view the PVR channels that run through my tv card. However, the video is in the proper positioning (NOT upside down or Backwards), BUT I do not see or have any access to any of the GBPVR functions nor the PC functions on my television. It only shows the tv channel output from my tv card with no functionality. It's as if I am only watching television on my tv/video input. If I need to change the channel, I need to do it through my computer with attached monitor using my keyboard.

3. Back at the PC & Monitor, when I scroll my mouse to the lower part of the monitor (remember, no functionality through television, only outputs tv signal), to bring up the "Channel Up, Down, Pause" functions, the "Up/Down" buttons work (with some delay), but the "Pause" (time shift) button displays that it is "starting time shift," but then shows an error, "failure playing back file" which then doesn't allow me to "pause live television."

4. I setup and downloaded the "TV Guide" from Zap2It website, and I can scroll through the "TV Guide" from the main menu and schedule a recording (which turns red) in the grid, and creates a folder in my C: drive for recordings, but when clicking on "completed recorded shows," the file is created in the C: drive, but nothing records and file size is "0 kilobytes."

If you have any questions or need additional information, contact me. Thanks for taking the time to read through this post and helping me out.

You have not mention which capture card in your post.

Answer to #1, try a different video decoder option in the config utility under the playback tab.

Answer to #2 (with a question), are you using a remote then? How are you trying to navigate the interface? (Note, your TV set will be nothing more than a monitor. Channel changing is done via the pc, using the tuner in your capture source, or sending remote signals to a set-top converter box.)

This is in the recordingservice log. Looks like a problem verifying the guide info before recording.

Unfortuntaly I cant really provide support for the software encoder plugin, I dont really know anything about it or how it works. It looks like all questions above are related to the smooth operation of this plugin.

I do know some other people have had the same problem with it presenting the video upside down. Its probably worth reviewing the software encoder plugin thread: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=2753 hopefully it'll have some clues.

Fatman_do,

No remote for the PVR is being used, only the keyboard and mouse for navigating through the interface. The television is cable-ready, so no box is required. That being said, as mentioned in the earlier post, the television is not showing any of the GB-PVR interface, it only shows the cable tv channel. I can only "see" the GB-PVR interface only on my monitor when hooked up to the PC and never (as of yet) on the tv.

The recordingservice log, do you know what the log is specifically referring to? At this point, I only updated the EPG earlier last week and currently do not have the PVR (PC) hooked up to the net at the moment. I was planning on connecting once per week for updates. Does this cause a problem, other than not being able to schedule specific shows at the moment.

Looking to have the core components functioning together.

Thanks, let me know if you are seeking any additional information.

How are you sending your PC video output to the TV? It appears you are using your VGA output via VGA converter to the TV. You should be seeing the PC desktop or GB-PVR interface if running, and not the cable broadcast. This makes me thing you are using the output of your capture device instead of your PC.

The error was reporting it cannot connect to the web to update EPG, this may have caused the failed recording. I also do not use the software encoder plugin so I am only stating what first comes to mind.

I have attached a "diagram" of photos to show my current hookup. Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for all your assistance and helping me have a running system.

You have the RCA output running from the Pinnacle device directly to your TV. you need to have the output going from your computers video card to the input on your TV, this way you will see the GBPVR interface.
