Has anybody tried using GBPVR on UBUNTU using Wine?

Heard that .Net has been loaded in Wine.

To be honest, I think there is no way in hell it would work. GB-PVR is the sort of app that is very dependent on drivers, and communicates directly with them. This sort of thing is unlikely to work via wine.

I was very tempted to try mono, which is Suse's (I think) answer to .net. It is a pretty hefty framework though.
I'd love to change the world....... But they wont give me the source code!

It said, requires Windows XP or better........ So I installed Linux! Smile

One way you can get some functionality in Linux is using the web admin to access another computer running GBPVR. You can then use streaming to watch timeshifted or recorded video on the Linux computer. Though you can't do everything, you can at least do the major parts.

I do this to turn my MAME arcade running Ubuntu Linux into a TV.

At the risk of taking this thread off course, which MAME do you run on Linux? I tried using AdvanceMAME on Gentoo a few years ago for my cocktail cab, and had no success whatsoever. Do you have a front-end on it as well?

I'm using KXMAME right now after experimenting a bit this seems to work the best for me. I like to have the artwork and history like Mame32 for windows does. Basically KXMAME is very close to Mame32 but KXMAME works on Linux. It is based on GXMAME and is very similar but I think KXMAME is better because it is somewhat actively being developed (Feb 5,2006 last update) and doesn't have some of the bugs I have found in GXMAME (April 10, 2005 last update).
