Auto ShutDown

I would like GB-PVR to Auto ShutDown my Computer after a recording is finished. I looked in Config but didn't see that option. I could have over looked it since there are so many options. Is there a way I can do this? Thanks

The is no GB-PVR setting for this. Most people that do this type of thing, just set Windows to auto standby/hibernate after a certain number of minutes of inactivity.

You could shutdown using a batch file - However you should quit gbpvr first...

Thanks for your quick Response. Normally I start up my PC and walk away and let it run If I have a Program scheduled to record. I never log in, I just let the GBPVRrecordingService take care of starting the recording. I was hoping that the GB-PVR had that feature to shut down but there are other ways I'm sure to get the computer to do this. I do have a Shut Down program but I am unsure if it will run as a service. However, if it will that will solve the issue. I could just set it for 10 minutes or so after GB has done it's recording..... Thanks again for your info.

Wouldn't hibernating be a better option - then you can wake for the next scheduled recording

I agree that you should be using a standby/hibernate mode for power saving (as their current draw is minimal) BUT if you must shut it down, in the post processing batch file you can add a call to shutdown at the end, I forget the exact command right now, but thats nothing Google cant fix

I agree with the hibernate/standby option as opposed with a full shutdown, since GBPVR has the capability to wake up the machine when a program is schedule recording crops up. I don't use any special software to put the machine into hibernate (my preference;less power) mode, I just used that's part of XP, but be forewarned that Windows hibernate/standby is very picky and tricky. I had to shorten than idle time to 2 or 5 minutes to let it go into hibernation. I sometimes have to restart the PC, whenever another program was run, just to make sure that memory is clean of any background processes. These are however more related to Windows rather than GBPVR, but put them together and you have a very good HTPC that will record all your shows, not eat too much power, and not tax your machine unnecessarily.

Thanks guys..... Hibranation wouldn't be that bad if I left my PC on all the time. This is my main machine that I have just throne a tv tuner in. Normally I'll just turn the machine on when I need it such as to get on the net, pay bills, or record a program. When I have a program schuduled, I'll just use GB-PVR's TV Guide and set up the time to record. After that, I leave the house and do what I need to do that day. I just don't like the PC running while I'm not home. with all the fans it's kinda loud as well.

if you use hibernate/standby you could do the same thing, just leave the computer "on" all the time but put it to sleep when you are not there, will be ready for work quicker that way as well

Thanks Ted..... I tried that and it seem to do the trick. She cranked right up for the recording then went back to Hibernation at the time I allowed. I've heard issues with windows going into and out of hibernate but she seems to be working good so far. Thanks for the advice everyone.
