Overlay renderer causes blocky graphics

Although the picture seems quite reasonable using the overlay, it causes on screen text and graphics to go a bit blocky such as program information.
What causes this ? Should it do this ? or is my setup abnormal ? Thanks, Juice.

Overlay uses different rendering methods then VMR so you will lose some niceties in the OSD. ie, no transparency.
I believe the blocky lettering is another misfortune of Overlay

With overlay, the resolution of the OSD is also tied to the resolution of the video, so if you watch a low resolution video you get low resolution OSD.

sorry for the hijack, but does that mean that if I use VMR9 the OSD wont be constrained to 720x480?

can you change the font to something more scaleable or is that a dumb question?
