I just upgraded to the latest build, and on the web interface, from the local host, and remote hosts, I can reach the web site, but the images do not display, and when I log in, it says "error on page", and the details are:

Line: 12
Char: 5
Error: Object Expected
Code: 0
URL: http://localhost:7647/gbpvr/Login.aspx

Any ideas? I've tried restarting the service with no luck. I'll try a reboot in a moment.

netstat shows the service listening, and a few connections in TIME_WAIT from localhost.

I'm running XP Pro SP2, I've tried disabling the windows firewall and norton antivirus with no luck

THanks,
ANEDJF.

This sounds like a Javascript error. More likely from the browser... Try it on another machine first (networked) if not do the below.

Although i dont overly agree with this but since MS Virtual Machine is now not supported you need to install SUN JAVA and check again.

1. Remove (or make sure its removed) MS Virtual Machine, use program enclosed from MS "unmsjvm.exe"

2. Install SUN JAVA from link "http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp".

See how you get on....

It should work with the MS Virtual Machine, this is what I use. You're right it sounds like a javascript error. I agree thats worth trying it from another machine to help test this theory.

What browser are you using (I'm assuming Internet Explorer), what service pack? Sub is right, in that this is definitely a Javascript error, and it could be a number of things causing it.

I have used both Internet Explorer 6sp1 on Windows 2000, and FireFox for accessing the Web Admin, and haven't had a problem. I don't have XP.

Make sure that your Internet Explorer is current on all it's service packs, and security patches.

Actually I remember a user experiencing this problem in the past updated from IE5 to IE6SP1 to correct the problem.

Yes, this is because MS have changed the whole way they interface JAVA in both IE, IE5 is the last known "good" build, IE had alot of bugs fixed in Service Packs.

Its to do with how IE "runs" the java script, i personally when i write any web stuff only use IE3/4 commands then they run on everything. There are some nice commands you can use in JAVA now that would take a few lines of code to do (like searching in strings) but are IE 5+ compatible.

Again i dont agree with any of this but times change. I'm using JAVA (from SUN, the original programmers) and not had any problems really (although not tried the web front end yet, will try to later though).

You SHOULD be able to fix the above problem by removing MS VM and install SUN instead (your need to reboot then install new), but it could also be the orginal script needs an IE6 only command then you will have to upgrade but the cross over to SUN will have to happen as MS dont support VM anymore.

Ok, it gets stranger.

I removed MS JVM and installed Java. No change.

I am running XP SP2 locally with IE 6, SP2 all updates applied.

I tried accessing from an XP SP2 box with IE 6, SP2, and using Firefox 1.0.

I tired accessing from an W2K box SP4, IE 6 SP1.

I tired a 2003 Server with IE 6.0.3790.

FInally, I tired a linux box with mozilla.

All without luck.

I tried a fresh install of GBPVR on another XP SP2 box, and it worked. I took the /web directory and copied it onto the box in question (backing up the old /web dir), still no luck.

Other than re-installing GBPVR from scratch, any other suggestions?

Thanks,
ANEDJF

You can always try downloading and installing the enhanced web admin to see if that helps.

Good idea. No luck, though.

I also removed GBPVR completley and re-installed it.

This is a fairly fresh install of XP SP2, as I had a system crash on Saturday and reinstalled the OS, from a fresh format. I don't have any strange apps running (mostly MS office stuff).

Is the Java component dependent upon the client accessing the server or the server itself? I don't know that much about how Java works.
