I just purchased the WinTV-PVR-USB2 unit today and realized that as a result of living in Canada I could not use the included TV scheduler. So I looked around the web and found this software which looks to be far more than the included WinTV2000 as far as versatility. It has taken me a while to get it running - but it seems that I now have. One problem I cannot seem to resolve is that I have no sound. I do have sound with the WinTV2000 application however. Any suggestions?

I'm not aware of any issues with sounds relating to this device. Have you tried updating to the latest driver from the Hauppauge website?

Yes - it's stange. I just uninstalled everything (Hauppauge software & GBPVR software) and started fresh. Once I installed the drivers from the disk that came with the unit, I updated the drivers from Hauppage website and then installed GBPVR - - - problem still exists - WinTV2000 has sound and GBPVR doesn't.

It must be a setting that I have wrong somewhere. Recordings made in GBPVR have sound when played in Media Player Classic (but not in the GBPVR player) and while Live TV has no sound, anything played in the GBPVR video or music section plays just fine.

No suggestions yet? I'm thinking it must be a setting in the control panel or something like that.

To see if other pvr softwares had a similar issue, I just downloaded the 21 day trial of SnapStream Media Beyond TV and it provides sound without a hitch just like WinTv2000. One thing I didn't like about Beyond TV was that when I run it on my second wide screen monitor (32inch LCD 16:9), it displays the menus fine but hangs up and cannot seem to stretch the image and so will not display a picture when on Live TV setting. I did not have this problem with gbpvr which makes the software much more usable to me - so I'm trying to figure this out.

Have you tried changing your audio renderer in config at all? If not try changing those settings and see if that helps.

I did try different settings in Audio Render to no avail, last night - - - but when I did it now with your suggestion, I did get sound but just static noise like a TV signal with no station.

So then I thought I'd play with Audio Decoder and changed that to MPEG Audio Decoder - - - and low and behold it works. I switched Audio Render back to System Default and it still works. Haven't played with the other settings yet and don't really know what the difference is.

I'm afraid I'm not too good at figuring out the technical setting stuff - - - but thank you for taking the time and heading me in the right direction. ALL RESOLVED NOW.

Glad to hear you got it working! Sometimes it just takes a little time to get the software configured to your specific machine/hardware.
