Hi

Ive had a look and cant find details on this...

I notice there is a function in the CONFIG thats says "Configure this machine to act as a client" then theres a few input boxes and drop down menu about streaming and file sharing.

This all looks fairly straight forward BUT i dont see anything about how to set the SERVER side of this up...

Can someone please walk me through the back end of this on items like how to set the server side up and then what the client needs to see network wise and what ports are going to be used if streaming (as share looks straight forward) and what the client is capable of doing when interacting with a server....

Also how will i know by looking at the client if the connection is dropped etc...?

If this works as i think it will then this will negate the need for a SOFTWARE MVP thats been worked on a little while ago..
Many Thanks
Ashley

I don't think you have to 'setup' anything on the server side, just a normal install of gbpvr. You might have to open up the firewalls on the separate machines.

The shares I have on the server are the GBPVR program directory for the database and the data directory for the recordings.
It works a treat once you've got it going.

I have the following ports open in my firewall: 7647, 7648, 7967, 7968. I never have seen them all listed together. These ports are for the client/server as well as for the web admin. Once I found all the port numbers, streaming worked well. Don't forget to share your devnz or gbpvr folder.

Even though the streaming/live TV works great, I can't seem to be able to add a recording to the schedule from the client. I can do it from an MVP but not a client PC. It always says that I have a conflict even though nothing on the server is scheduled. It seems like it is a permission problem. Any ideas?

Zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Sub,

Here are my logs for the client and server. Let me know if I missed any. I have two servers and it does the same on both.

Thanks,

Your logs are full of errors relating to the Software Recorder plugin, so I can only guess its related to that. I dont really know anything about how that plugin works, so dont have much to offer on that front.

If you havnt already, you may find you need to have software encoder plugin installed on each of the clients.

Sub,

Thanks so much, that did the trick. I have been struggling with that for a while now.
