Another missing channels problem.

I am missing all the low band transponders and all horizontal transponders in the high band.
However: All channels are found and work with WinTV32/2000 (WinTV crashes all the time, though…)

Dual LNB Setup with a 9/8 Diseqc switch
LNB A: Astra 1
LNB B: Astra 2

Windows XP home SP2 with GBPVR 98.13
Hauppauge Nova SE2
Current drivers 10/02/2006, 2.117.24275 from hauppauge support

BDA driver is properly recognized by GBPVR and I can scan.

LOF 1: 9750
LOF Switch: 11700
LOF 2: 10600

Diseqc A for LNB A
(Diseqc B for LNB B – not important at this point)

Thus, all parameters are set as in WinTV. After an extended forum search, I tried playing with LOF frequencies, with all Diseqc options. It should work with Diseqc set to ‘NONE’ which should do V/H with 14/18V and low/high band with 22kHz, but that doesn’t give me any different results.
I have also tried setting <BDAUsePsiParser>true</BDAUsePsiParser> to >false<, which results in GBPVR crashing and no access to the configuration anymore.

At this stage, I am missing all the important channels. Any help is highly appreciated.

I'm not really sure, but you could try editing bda.ini and removing the line that says "SUPPORTS_BDA_DISEQC=3" in the [Hauppauge Nova-SE2] section.

Thanks for your reply, sub.

Tried deleting the line from bda.ini.
I understand that diseqc should now be disabled?

Result:
I am now getting some channels from LNB/satellite B by default which is very odd. So the card is sending an LNB B signal without that specific diseqc command set in gbpvr. Again, I am only getting vertical channels from the high band even though a horizontal frequency from the low band is in the transponder list.

Also, config crashes halfway through scanning. That can be cured temporariliy by deleting the scan*.cache files.

What are the other possible options (1, 2, n)?

To be honest, I've never tested a diseqc switch with a Hauppauge DVB-S device, so I'm not sure it works or not. Unfortunately there are no standards in the BDA drivers for diseqc control, so each and every manufacturer does it a different way.

Are you able to test by removing the switch and plugging directly into LNB A?

This sounds like the PsiParser is encountering something in the stream that it doesnt like. Is it always a specific transponder?

No, not really. The switch is outside in a weatherproof box.
The setup is not a simple A/B diseqc switch but a multi outlet system. The setup is similar to this (Spaun multiswitch)

Diseqc does work properly with the hauppauge WinTV though (which is otherwise rather unreliable...)
14/18V switching works OK from gbpvr - measured that with a multimeter. However, for example I am getting
11686 V instead of 10832 H ( Astra 1)

So it appears that while voltage switching for polarity is working, the diseqc command always keeps me in the high band and on vertical transponders.

Secondary problem. It only happens on Astra 28.2.

Any chance of working on the diseqc problem?

Thanks

To be honest, its not really good time. I'm not able to provide you any patches to try until the next release is out. My build is no longer binary compatible with v0.98.13.

I'm happy to help you work through this when the next release is out though. (it'll probably be a few weeks)

Sub,

no problem.

Maybe I should get myself another tv card in the meantime than the hauppauge one. Is there one that is proven to work with diseqc properly?

I use my Twinhan DVB-S card with a 4 way diseqc switch.

I am still having the problem with loads of missing channels on my hauppauge card in GBPVR.

I have looked at the GBPVR scan log from Astra 1 which is attached in the zip file. I am getting only low band transponders?!

During scanning, all transponders from the low and high band are scanned, there's just no signal quality reading for the high band.
Is it possible that the 'lo/hi' command bytes in the diseqc command are not sent (page 20 in this document)?
Switching to the high band using the permanent 22 KHz Tone should still work with diseqc off, but it doesn't: low band only in GBPVR. Both sat positions work with WinTV (with known limitations) and also with ProgDVB except no diseqc there, so I can only address one sat position, but with lo and hi bands.

In other news, diseqc option "C" gives me LNB 2 (as above, low band only), so while not properly assigned, I can switch to another LNB. However, I do get a lockup when I scan Astra 2; the scan log is empty on each attempt.

I have attached all logs and the scan log as well as the BDA graph.

Thanks for your help!

I forgot to reply to your PM the other day, but after I got it I put my Hauppauge HVR4000 back in my machine and spent a fair amount of time investigating. I did find and fix a problem that account for you comment about diseqc C -> LNB2.

I'm the first to admit I'm not that knowledgable about diseqc switches, with only the limited exposure to the 4 way diseqc switch I've got connected.

Thats the document I've been using for my reference. I could send you an updated version of NativeUtilities.DLL that logs the raw diseqc command sent.
