when gbpvr is used in conjunction w/ mediamvp, is the computer woken up from suspend mode? i.e. if i turned on the tv and pressed some buttons, will the computer go out of standby to deliver the files? i think some computers can respond to certain commands via ethernet to wake up.

THere is no wake from suspend feature in GBPVR, as far as I know.
I don't want my server suspended. If it was, it would not record shows when scheduled.

Yes there is, your server will wake from suspend/hibernation mode if your motherboard supports it, I use it all the time.

That was not the question asked, if you send a wol (wake up on lan) command to your server whilst it is asleep then it will wake up if your network card supports it, but if your asking whether the mediamvp can was up your gbpvr pc I don't believe so. I often wake up my gbpvr from the my work pc over the net to set a recording or stream a recording via the gbpvr web server during my lunchbreak.

i guess my question would be does media mvp send out a 'wake up on lan' signal when u press a button that brings the server computer out of suspend mode and thus would let gbpvr do it's work or let u watch a recorded show w/o physically having to move/turn on computer.

I don't believe so, actually Im pretty sure it doesnt. As it would have to send out a magic packet to that pc and nic, how would it know what it was?

the aswer is: it depends. some nic's have additional options (check them under hardware manager on the gbpvr server, see attached image for one example) for wol. if so, you might have luck to see something like "wake on ping" or "wake on activity". "wake on activity" would be needed, as the normal dongle.bin used on the mvp does not support wol-broadcast... i'm not sure about ping, but probably not out-of-the-box, so you would need a customized dongle for either "wake on ping" or "wol magic packet"

ps: no idea, what wake up frame is Big Grin

What I meant is that how would the mediamvp know what mac address to send the macket packet to, especially if there was more than 1 pc on the network? even if you modified the bin it would be an individual basis.

I believe that there are several on-going discussions about modifying customized versions of dongle.bin to generate the necessary WakeOnLan packet and Sub has had this on his "I will think about it" list for a long time. Go check for discussions under the GBPVR MVP support section.
