Have read that the setup for wMVP should be straight forward i.e. install and run. However, am facing problem connecting to server. The MVP main page will appear on the TV followed by error showing "No Streaming Server found". The network connection has been set. I was able to run using the wMVP server software. I tried GBPVR first but got the error above, uninstall it and install MVP server software. It worked. Uninstall MVP server and re-install GBPVR but the same error appears.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

In the GBPVR configurator, on the MVP tab, there is a setting for the number of MVP servers to start. Set that to the number of MVPs you have.

Done that already before. Have set it to 1. Have tried 2 as well. But the error message persist.

Am running Zone Pro Alarm. Have allowed access but will try to shutdown Zone Pro and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestion.

Do you have a DHCP server on your network? The Hauppauge software includes one but GB-PVR does not. Most people's routers handle this function so it's not usually a big deal, but you absolutely need one for the MVP to work with GB-PVR.

I normally connect 2 laptops to the wireless router using DHCP assigned IP addresss. Does that mean it has a DHCP server? My wireless router model is DI-524 Wireless G router.

If it's not, then what software should I use.

The MVP must think it has an IP address to get this far. With no DHCP server the MVP will get stuck at 2 of 5 big blue blocks on the bottom of the screen.

Pull the power plug, leave for 5 mins and reconnect. Watch the Big Blue blocks at the bottom of the screen. This will force it to request a NEW IP address, as it may be trying to use an OLD address that is now in use by something else.

Also, to eliminate the Wireless link, connect it via a LAN cable into a spare port on your router / switch and see if it can connect.

Does your GBPVR server PC also use DHCP for its IP address ?, If not make sure they are on the same subnet.

Yeah, it does. Your router is acting as your DHCP server, but as cosmocat mentions, if you aren't cutting off the power to your MVP (not just turning it off, but unplugging it) after shutting down the Hauppauge software, it'll still be using the IP address assigned to it by Hauppauge and not the one assigned by your router. Unplug it for a couple minutes and then try it again. If that doesn't work, cosmocat's suggestion of testing it with a wired connection is also good advice.

There may be some confusion here on the way the wmvp boots in comparison with the wired version since the process has changed a bit. Unless you use a wireless bridge I'm pretty sure you need to enable dhcp on the router itself.

For those that don't know the netboot loader and the blocks reallly go away with wifi (and the revision H mvp's). Instead the mvp loads a flash copy of dongle.bin which allows you to configure the wireless networking, SSID, WEP etc and during this process, the mvp obtains an IP and then goes to the Preferred Server and where it gets a newer dongle from GBPVR, which the mvp reloads. You should actually see the ip and all the tftp traffic in your gbpvr logs.

Since I think you are finding the "Preferred Server" and you are getting a GUI screen, I think that the problem is either firewall related or you are concurrently running the Hauppauge MediaMVPSvc.

Martin.
