For those of you interested in seeing if ZProcess may offer a solution, check this out:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=22210

I've updated ZProcess. 745 is very experimental, so please read the back up instructions...

Good luck

zehd, I downloaded your latest ZProcess to give it a try. Note, I've never used (installed) any previous version of ZProcess on my PC.

Now keeping in mind I'm totally new at ZProcess, when I tried from my MVP, it's not working for my avi and wmv files. If I try and run ffmpeg.exe (ZProcess) from my PC, it first said it couldn't find VLC and now it keeps saying it needs to create some folder.

Consider the can-of-worms officially opened. Big Grin

If you have never used it, you have some reading, I'm afraid. The wiki has most of the setup information.

You must have ZProcess working perfectly on the PC before you even try the MVP. Yes, it will ask for folders and possibly to create them. VLC is not necessary, but helps tremendously with setup and troubleshooting...

If you have issues with ZProcess, I'll deal with them in the ZProcess sub-forum...

Especially this version of ZProcess will not work out of the can for the MVP

A few quick comments before moving on to the ZProcess sub-forum.

Thanks for the tips. I let ZProcess create the directories and now ZProcess runs fine. Per your suggestion, I read the wiki again (and again and again...) now that I have ZProcess installed and it's beginning to make some sense.

In fact I was able use ZProcess to transcode both an avi and wmv file to mpg files using ZProcess and I was able to view both the resultant mpeg versions of those files created by ZProcess on my MVP. That's a first for a successful avi file transcode. Smile

After saving each of the successful avi and wmv transcode ZProcess profiles, I went to view an on-the-fly transcode of the same avi and wmv file on my MVP and they both failed to transcode. In fact attempting this caused my MVP to reboot. :o

Any suggestions as to why the transcode on-the-fly to the MVP may have failed?

Yep... But you won't like it... Assuming that ZProcess IS set up completely, (not just well enough for manual transcodes) then you're a victim of something stealing CPU, a weak CPu or other system specs, or that not enough file is created for GB-PVR to display.

I do know that you have a beefy system. But I've seen the strongest of systems brought to their knees because there is a extra service or program running in the background, that doesn't let ZProcess or FFMpeg do their thing... so it's something to think about when you're troubleshooting: what other services or programs are you running...

This is just how GB-PVR works. Whether you are using ffmpeg stock, or the new one included in the ZProcess beta...

GB-PVR starts to play a file it assumes exists. If the Transcode mechanism hasn't created the file in the first place, or is having trouble keeping up, then the MVP will crash...

I'll see you over at ZProcess sub-forum...
