The recording was a dvr-ms file at 92553 frames at 29.97 fps totalling 52 minutes.
Is that correct?
Sub, could you see from the log file how the fps was detected?

I'm guessing its like that other ATSC file we looked at, where the frame rate changed during the recording.

CSI Miami is a CBS show in 1080i. 52 minutes with 29.97 fps sounds right.

Does it mean that I'm out of luck with comskip? I face similar problems with other channels as well. Do all 1080i shows have this problem?

It'll only be a problem if the frame rate changes during the recording. I have no idea how common this will be for you. It never happens in my part of the world.

I've only seen one other person having this problem in the past, so it might not be very common. You might find its just one channel or something similar.

There is a change in the works that will resolve the issue.

You are the man!

I find out that this half issue happens for 1080i shows. In US, NBC and CBS use 1080i and ABC and FOX use 720p.

With the new 99.5 version using EDL file, all my problems have been solved. The markers are right on!!!

I just changed the comskip.ini to

output_default=0
output_edl=1
