This is odd: the TV picture size is kind of squashed towards the top of the TV screen (fills upper 80% of the screen height) when watching live TV, but yet fills entire vertical screen correctly when playing back a recording. I tried different settings and aspect ratios (using the F7 key) but with no real change. Is there a setting for this?

In the playback config screen, I'm using the VMR9 renderer if that makes a difference.

some hardware and codec info please.

I have no experience with, nor do I entirely know the symptoms of the nvidia purevideo aspect ratio bug, but this reminds me of what people have said about it

If that is the case, then you should try the vmr9 custom renderer.
I'm not always right

I tried to select the vmr9 custom renderer but when I start up live TV, I get an error message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".

Am I missing some kind of driver?

Zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

I sometimes see "attach the logs" in threads on this forum but I'm not sure exactly which file(s) this is referring to... any hint? Thanks!

The 5th post down in the support forum is entitled "Posting support questions". This willl give you details on which logs you need to zip and upload.
