Newbie problem GB-PVR crashes in Live tv and record

I'm hoping this is simply my lack of knowledge in this technology but I just upgraded by computer to a new Intel motherboard and 631 processor, PNY Verto Geforce 6800 video card and a Hauppage pvr350 card. The card installed fine and I'm able to watch Live tv and seemed to be able to record using the Win2000 program that came with the card. However, I found whenever I tried to play back any of the recorded videos, Windows Media Player and/or Win2000 would completely crash on me.

Based on this, I hoped that GB-PVR would work better so I installed and, I believe, have it configured properly. I got all the channels to download from Zap2It but everytime I try to watch LiveTV or Record anything, GB-PVR simply crashes with no explanation. I'm just not that conversant in this application of tv cards in general and I'm really hoping somebody can offer some assistance bases on the kinds of problems I'm having and that there might be some troubleshooting tips I can use to try and get this working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm attaching every log file I can find associated with your software.

It sounds like you've ended up with some flakely decoders installed on your machine.

What do you mean exactly? Do you get an error message? If so, what does it say?

Have you explicitly try setting audio/video decoder and renderers on the playback tab of the config app, rather than relying on the 'system default'?

When you say flaky decoders, what exactly do you mean? Do these come from the Hauppage install, are newer ones available? When I try to watch Live-TV, all I get is the message, GB-PVR has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I'm really not sure what to select for decoders on the Playback tab, any suggestions?

by flakey he means that there could have been a problem when they were installed so there is corruption which causes the system to panic. or there could be compatibility issues with some hardware or software that you have installed.

as for selection, the nvidia purevideo decoder is good, some say the best. and since you have a nvidia card I would agree that it will give you the best performance. if you already have it, good for you, if you dont you can try it from nvidia for free, and if you like it, buy after a month. other than that, just select something, if that doesnt work, try a different one. if you mess with settings, just remember where they started, or make sure there is a default button. the best way to learn about this stuff is to tinker

Yep, those things, or video decoders installed by some app that is only really designed to work well with that application and doesnt like the generic way its used in GB-PVR.
