ok
(if I got what you mean) although I'd like to hear (or see) something more for issues 3, 10 and 13 (and of course 2 that now has it's own topic)

Sub is there a possibility that you don't treat people like sh*t?
If it bothers you to talk to us, SORRY. Things happen to all people's lives (my grandma died this Saturday and I have lost my job a few... months ago), this doesn't mean we need to bring it up on everybody. Anyway, sorry if *I* bothered you somehow (!.

My God NLS, where to start?
Well, first off, are YOU personally funding the entire GB-PVR website and paying sub for all of his hard work? Â Unless you haven't noticed, this is FREEWARE, and vey powerful and functional freeware for that matter. Â Does it work perfectly, no. Â If you think you can do better writing a PVR program that works with so many capture cards with the features of this program, be my guest. Â The fact that many of these capture cards have buggy drivers in the first place makes you wonder how anything gets done at all! I've emailed Hauppauge no less than seven times in the last few months and have yet to see a response. Â And I paid them for their product, which they won't even support. Â sub has helped me numerous times with problems I was having when he didn't have to. Â I'm currently having problems with the latest two releases, but to sub's credit, he did make some pretty major changes in the release, and he said if you want a super stable version, this probably isn't the release for you. Â I gave up a few new features and went back to an older release. Â No big deal. Â Some of the problems he hasn't been able to duplicate on his system, it's pretty hard to fix something when it isn't broken in front of you. Now I don't want to call you a liberal or anything, but you sure seem to buy into the philosophy of entitlement in my opinion. Â You seem to act like just because YOU are having certain problems and YOU want certain features implemented that aren't, YOU are entitled to it, and can/should/will bump up any and all dead threads to the top so YOUR voice WILL be heard. Â You said you lost your job a few...months ago, well, thank God for capitalism! Â You live in a world where you can actually create your own job and enrich your life. Â Seeing as you are an expert on what features and how a PVR program should work, and there seems to be a growing market share for such a perfect program that you would describe, why don't you brush up on your programming skills and make one yourself. Â If you do a good enough job, people might actually even use it and recommend it to their friends, pay you for it, and voila! you have filled a market niche AND solved your employement woes at the same time! Â Don't even bother hiring a technical support staff, or creating an internet forum, as I'm sure YOUR program will be perfect and free of bugs and gliches, even though it will certainly be run on multiple operating systems that are constantly being updated, buggy hardware drivers, and general program incompatabilites. Â I'm sure you can overcome all of these obstacles and therefore will not ever need to answer emails or threads in forums on technical support issues because of your relentless perfectionism. Or here's a thought, if you are so unhappy with GB-PVR, I don't think the socialists and communists have completely had their way yet and forced you to use it. Â You still have the ability to use another product, perhaps you might even have to pay for it! Â OMG! Â But seeing as you did pay for it, I'm sure it will work flawlessly with every feature YOU want in it. Â So you see, there's no need for all of this animosity and hostility, personally, I can't wait to use your perfect PVR program, make sure you email me first when it's done OK!

...relax man First of all who said sub needed a lawyer? I find him (from what I've seen) perfectly capable of defending himself. Second of all, there is nothing to DEFEND! I never CRITICISED his work! Can someone point me to something like this? (except if because English is not my first language I was misunderstood somewhere to "demand" something) I KNOW it's freeware SPARE ME THE FREEWARE PREECHING! (there is always a guy like this in such threads I guess) I never demanded anything for God's Shake! I just made my list of wishes and bugs like everybody else! Where do you see something different??? I find GBPVR ALREADY the best of the bunch, and this is one of the reasons that I would like to see it even better! I know what Hauppauge (lack of) support means, like everybody else (although I've been lucky enough to HAVE received answers to my older mail). Sub is pretty active both developing AND replying and he has said many times it's not even his job. In all these we agree. BUT, all these are much different than giving the right to someone to treat you like sh*t. I always tried to be polite (heck, I WAS polite), always respected him and his work (and still do), but still I got something like "hey you little sh*t, you talk too much shut up". Sorry never given that right to anybody. I hope it was much stress from elsewhere for Sub, just letting steam in here (something almost verified by this post). This is why I mentioned two incidents of mine. As for the rest of mumbo jumbo you write there man, sorry cannot comment (communism, capitalism, me making a better program blah blah... what was all about? Are you high on something? Too many times you watched the Alamo or what? Any relation your good mr. President?). Anyway, I am not going to comment on the issue again. I think I was mistreated without deserving it (I hope sub will see this when he is more relaxed). As for you, talk as much as you want.

BTW, I like GBPVR, so unless sub embeddes some code to disallow esp. me from using it, I am still going to use it, hopping along with everybody else, it will get even better (when and if he has the time). Even report bugs and propose ideas IF the guy wants.

NLS, I'm now fully aware of your feeling justified in your comments. Â Obviously "my" interpretation of your critism and condensation was lost in translation. Â Anyway, I'll agree to disagree on your philosophy. Â But to the specific stress you speak of, it seems apparent to me that he's burnt out from all of the questions lately, and not from outside sources.
Without going into my own personal life, I can fully understand burn out, and hope sub the best of luck. Â If I'm reading into it sub, please feel free to correct me. Â As for the rest of my "mumbo jumbo", I MUST be high on something, what else could it be? |
