Reven has stopped developing My Videos. I am looking for a replacement, I use My Videos a lot and want something similar, or better, in functionality. Any suggestions?

If he doesn't decide to make a last run at finishing 5, I was thinking of tying to make one. It would be pretty basic, but would allow the same directory system (I need that to keep shows separate from movie, and subcategorize the stuff for the kids), and movie/poster grabs. I would probably skip the DVD burning parts, since there are apps that do it just fine.
Video Archieve does a good job, but it didn't have the abilty to sub-group media in to separate folders. If you don't have a ton of media saved and a need for specific organization of things, get it.

Capone, that would make my Christmas. I am also an addict of MyVideos5 and like you do not care about the DVD buring stuff. However, I need the directory structure and the ability to download posters, description and rating from IMDB.
Many thanks, let me know if you need testers. \\Agerdin

I don't know what you mean about the video archive plug-in not having the ability to "sub-group media in to separate folders". If you mean separate movies from recordings, it does this. It also has the ability to create seperate users so that the kids, for example, can see different content than the adults. It also supports any level of sub-directories spanning any number of local or network attached drives. I have almost 3400 recordings spread over 3 TB of disks and it works fine. It will also auto-download movie descriptions and posters as well as posters for TV shows. It does not do DVD burning however. Jeff

Did he say why he does not use GBPVR anymore or what else he now uses?

Raven never said what he's using now... only that he barely uses GBPVR anymore. If he would have made 1 last fix to My Videos it would have been finished, but since it doesn't allow Episode numbers to be visible in descriptions its completely useless for my needs.. It should have a function that allows you to sort by episode number.
I would like to see Video Archive retrieve TV show and IMDB Listings because it seems like the natural choice for replacement of My Videos. No needs for dvd burning, I always felt like because Raven worked on that it slowed him down from finishing other things. I found a great website that could be used instead of tv.com and this website makes it allot easier to take their tv listing info. http://tvdb.zsori.com/

For movies, the video archive plug-in already fetches from imdb (and/or amazon.com). For TV shows, it pulls information from the GBPVR database.

My problem with TV series is that most of my TV shows are being captured from DVD and not television. So i'd need to pull that info from somewhere online. Is this something you would be interested in implimenting?

I am looking at it. When you rip from DVD, how are the files named? Is there something I could use to know the name of the series and the name of the episode? If I know those it looks pretty easy to pull the season and episode number from the site you pointed out.
