Hi,

Does anyone know whether or not GB-PVR uses capture sources in any preference?. The reason why I'm asking is because I'm using a Nebula-Electronics DigiTV USB2.0 and a Freecom DVB-T version 3 USB2.0 capture device and would like GB-PVR to use DigiTV in preference as this particular DVB-T Receiver seems to pick-up more DVB-T channels than the Freecom DVB-T Receiver.

Another question, where a Dual Tuner DVB-T Receiver (such as a Hauppauge Win-TV Nova-T 500) is in use rather than two separate DVB-T Receivers is it possible that GB-PVR can pick up the same channels on both tuners as opposed to a good selection of channels on the first receiver and not so many channels on the second receiver?.

Thank you.

When scheduling a recording it prefers devices at the top of the capture source list in the config app (and works its way down looking for an available).

Dual Tuner devices look like two devices to GB-PVR, so no real difference to two separate devices.

Hi Sub, Thank you for your reply. Confusing this because the first capture device in my GB-PVR installation is Digi-TV and the second capture device is Freecom DVB-T however preference is being given to the latter Sad. Do you think it's worth deleting the Digi-TV entry and add immediately after Freecom DVB-T capture device?.

Noticed that some channels won't play via MVP either however think that this is because the Freecom DVB-T hasn't picked them up.

Is the Hauppauge Nova-T 500 a capture device that you or possibly other forum members recommend?.

Thank you Smile.

When you use live tv the preference works the opposite direction, perferring the bottom of the list.

I've never used any DVB-T device myself, so not really in a good position to recommend one. I'd have to say go for a popular device though. I'd also steer clear of the freecom devices, they sound like a steam pile of poo.

Hi Sub, Thank you for your reply. Was pleased initially with Freecom DVB-T Receiver however am no longer happy with this capture device. DigiTV from Nebula Electronics picks up far more channels than the Freecom DVB-T Receiver.
The latter does not seem to be money well spent Sad.

Kind Regards.

I would avoid the hauppuage nova-t 500 as some people have issues waking the tuners after hibernation/suspending. I'm not sure if they have ironed this out yet but visit avforums to find out more.
Ironic as my nebula is one of the worse dvb-t cards I have for receiption, and I have 6.

Hi Herbs, Thank you for your reply. Can you recommend any particular PCI or USB2.0 DVB-T Capture Devices at all?. Was thinking about buying a Nebula-Electronics Slave DVB-T Receiver to go with Master DVB-T Receiver but thought that a Hauppauge Nova-T 500 was better value for money. Freecom DVB-T is not recommended at all.

Kind Regards.

I have just got a Nova-T500 and it is working perfectly, does not seem to have an issue waking from standby, I scheduled 3 simultaneous recordings earlier and all worked fine.
Two on the nova-T500 and the other via s-video in on my PVR350.
Recordings are of a good quality too.

The only annoying thing was having to delete my PVR350 capture source and add it again, so that the nova took precedence.

I've recently added a nova-t-500 and it works out of standby. Reading that other thread makes me infer that it may be a way the MCE handles it??

Just to annoy stryder Big Grin , I managed to get it to the top of the list without deleting my PVR150 but it's not for the feint hearted and completely unsupported/frowned on. So I'd advise doing it the proper way.

The nova-t seems much more sensitive than the kworld USB box that I had before.

Aha, You must have used a DB script to do it, thought about doing that, but decided it could turn out to be more trouble than its worth Big Grin
Well done though!
Besides i'm not as clued up on the GBPVR DB design than I would have liked to be Smile
